Series?:  Yes.  Final book.

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that sheโ€™s made it out of the bloody arena alive, sheโ€™s still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And whatโ€™s worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katnissโ€™s family, not her friends, not the people of District 12.

SPOILER ALERT:  If you haven’t read the first two books in this series it may contain some spoilers but there are no spoilers concerning what happens in this book.

I finished Mockingjay in the early hours of this morning and I am still in shock.  Shock over what happened, how good it was, and how amazingly written it was. I didn’t know if the end to the series would live up to the hype but it definitely did.

I’m obviously not going to go into details about the plot but I will say this: it was non-stop action.  From the very first page there was something going on and I loved it.  I’m so glad I was able to read straight through because I don’t think I would have been capable of putting it down.

The honest truth about this book is that is was brutal.  It was actually kind of hard to read.  Since the first book I have come to know and love these characters and I hated to see them in any pain.  Reading about not only the physical but the mental torture they were put through was tough but I didn’t expect any less from this book.  I knew going in that it wasn’t going to be your fairytale ending but that didn’t make it any less shocking.

Overall, Mockingjay is a brilliant ending to The Hunger Games trilogy.  I laughed, I cried, I bit my nails down to the cuticles.  I’m sad for the end of such a fantastic series but I’m excited to see what Suzanne Collins has in store for readers next.  =]

Grade:  A++

Cover:  A++ (I think it fits with the first two books.)

  2. I desperately want to read it! I check my library website every ten minutes (as though they’re going to update it) to see if the book came yet!

  3. I can’t wait!! I expected to receive our copy from the publisher earlier this week but haven’t yet. My son, husband, and I all loved the first two books (and I also passed them onto my mom and stepmom!)

    Thanks for the review!

  4. Final analysis of the Hugner Games series: in-SANE.
    A+ times a million!

The plot twists were ridiculous! When it finally reveals who actually gets assassinated in the third part, I almost dropped the book.

With both this series and the Underland Chronicles, there came a part towards the end of the series where I’m crying about what’s happened and I’m like, This is NOT young adult fiction! You can’t DO that in a young adult book!

Yet I would have torn it up as a teenager too.

  5. Great review!
I read a lot of reviews by people saying that they didn’t like the ending, unless you’re a team Peeta, but they loved the book.

Well, Suzzane Collins is an amazing author so she must have done a great job with the book!
Can’t wait to read this. I’m still gonna start the second. I love the Hunger Games! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for the review! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. she wasn’t supposed to end with “BLANK” She lead it up so much that she would be with the other guy that i was disappointed.

  7. I wasn’t sure if I liked the casting for hunger games so At first I didn’t like her but I have definitely changed my mind about Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss. She really gets the character and I think she’s gonna be perfect! http://bit.ly/gnbaOA far, but after reading this interview w/ gary ross and suzanne collins I think they are gonna do it right! http://bit.ly/fBnTlR

  8. I have read this series 4 times and love it completely. <33 for all who say the last book is boring and go gale, you dont know wat youre saying. in the end, katniss is right. she needs that hope from peeta however in the last book they sort of stop the tension and chemistry between p&k which i would have loved to see more of. great read!!! 5 STARS!<3
