Nora Grey’s life is still far from perfect. Surviving an attempt on her life wasn’t pleasant, but atleast she got a guardian angel out of it: a mysterious, magnetic, gorgeous guardian angel. But, despite his role in her life, Patch has been acting anything but angelic. He’s more elusive than ever and even worse, he’s started spending time with Nora’s arch-enemy, Marcie Millar.

Nora would have hardly noticed Scott Parnell, an old family friend who has moved back to town, if Path hadnt been acting so distant. Even with Scott’s totally infuriating attitude Nora finds herself drawn to him – despite her lingering feeling that he’s hiding something.

Haunted by images of her murdered father, and questioning whether her nephilim bloodline has anything to do with his death, Nora puts herself increasingly in dangerous situations as she desperatly searches for answers. But maybe some things are better left buried, because the truth could destroy everything – and everyone – she trusts.

Crescendo is a strong follow-up novel to Hush, Hush.  While the story is very different I still found myself drawn into Nora’s world, just as with Hush, Hush.  Becca Fitzpatrick is a brilliant writer and Crescendo has left me wanting more.

Nora Grey should be happy.  She is finally with Patch and she loves him like crazy.  Too bad he doesn’t seem to share her feelings.  Instead, Patch is drawing farther away from Nora and closer to her nemesis, Marcie Millar.  With Patch out of her life Nora has nothing left to focus on except her old friend Scott Parnell and her father’s murder.  Nora’s certain that she can uncover the mystery of her father’s killer but it’s one thing she may not live to tell.

Crescendo takes a bit of a darker turn.  It focuses a lot on Patch and Nora’s problems but it also spotlights her father’s murder and the war brewing between the fallen angel and the Nephilim.  There was a lot of information in this book and I found myself shocked at all the secrets.  So many things were going on in the story but I never felt overwhelmed.  It all tied together perfectly.

Once again, the characters hooked me.  Nora is just such an average girl that you can’t help but sympathize with her and feel connected to the story.  She goes through a lot with Patch in this book but that isn’t all she has to deal with.  She may not seem like a strong character at first but she really is.  Patch, on the other hand, is a strong character from the start but he plays a mysterious role.  I couldn’t figure out what was going on with him for most of the book.  Vee was my least favorite.  She was funny but she was obnoxious.  She almost seemed mean at points.  Oh and Rixon is back with a bigger role this time and he has some shocking secrets of his own.

Overall, Crescendo really showcases Becca Fitzpatrick’s talent for writing and drawing readers in.  The cliffhanger ending though is what really leaves me wanting more.  October is so far away!

First line:  The fingers of the thorn-apple tree clawed at the windowpane behind Harrison Grey, and he dog-eared his page, no longer able to read through the racket.
