Murder. Love. Jealousy. And the ultimate sacrifice. Now, with Rose on trial for her life and Lissa first in line for the Royal Throne, nothing will ever be the same between them.

SPOILER ALERT: If you have not read the previous books in this series, do not read this review!

Last Sacrifice is the perfect end to the Vampire Academy series.  I’m not happy that there are no more books in the series but I am very satisfied with the way things ended.  Richelle Mead pretty much tied everything up, leaving just a few loose ends that I am sure will be addressed in the Bloodlines series.

It’s really hard to explain how I felt about this book without going into spoilery things.  As far as the Rose-Dimitri-Adrian love triangle, I think we all knew how that was going to end.  I didn’t really like how long it took to reach that ending but the end was very sweet and romantic.

Another thing I liked about this book was Lissa.  She finally stopped relying on Rose and grew some semblance of a backbone.  Don’t get me wrong, I liked her in previous books but she has never really done anything.  She definitely did something in this book and I loved her for it.

The plot of Last Sacrifice was fabulous!  There was so much going on at all times.  It was hard to put this book down.  It seemed like one problem would be resolved only to have another one pop up.  It was very gripping.

Overall, Last Sacrifice is the perfect end to the Vampire Academy series and I can’t wait to read Bloodlines now.  I am so glad that there will be more books set in the VA world and hopefully more Rose, Dimitri, Lissa, Christian, Adrian, and the rest.

  1. Vampire Academy will always be one of my favourite series just because I could feel how in love Rose and Dimitri really were. It was surreal but beautiful at the same time!

  2. I was very sad to finish this book since VA is one of my all-time favorite series. There’s just something about the characters and the plot that draws you in…

Anyways, I also liked how Lissa changed and became more independent and believed in herself. And finally we get to see how the love triangle ends! Although, like you said, no surprises there.

Now I’ve read Bloodlines and cannot wait for the next book! 🙂

  3. I loved the whole series so much, and I am pretty satisfied with the way things ended. It has to be my absolute favourite book series, hehe! Oh, and I hope Adrian gets his happy ending as well. I loved the first Bloodlines book and can’t wait for the next one.

  4. BTW…I don’t know if I’ve ever told you, but I freakin’ love your blog design. Doesn’t this series ROCK? I can’t decide which is my fave book out of them all. But I agree, this was the perfect end to VA. Can’t wait to see what you think about Bloodlines! More Adrian! I ♥ Adrian!!!

  5. It’s awesome when authors end beloved series in a way that satisfies readers. I love Richelle Mead. She knows how to balance a great plot with likable characters you root for and feel you know.

    Lovely review 🙂
