Blogger Interview: Katie from Sophistikatied Reviews!

Today I have an interview with the amazing Katie from Sophistikatied Reviews.  If you didn’t know, she is the awesome person who did my blog design.

What are you like outside of blogging?

Outside of blogging, I’m sorta kinda weird. Not going to lie about that. But I like to think of it as an awesome, fun kind of weird! The ‘watches cartoons and has a perverted sense of humor and is easily amused’ kind of weird!

What book changed your life?

Twilight. I get a lot of eye rolls for this, but if I had never randomly picked that book up all those years ago, I wouldn’t have become the reader and blogger that I am today. I’ve always been an avid reader as a kid, but Twilight opened me up to the wonderful world of YA and turned me into a gigantic book monster.

What made you decide to start your blog?

Having so many thoughts and not having anywhere to share them! I had friends and family that read maybe one book per year (except for my mother, who goes through true crime books like we go through toilet paper) so I didn’t have anyone willing to listen to my rants. And now I have over 1,000 people who actually look forward to my rants! Ha!

What blogs/bloggers inspire you?

April from Good Books & Good Wine, because she’s hilarious and I love the fact that she never sugarcoats anything. And Jamie from The Perpetual Page-Turner because she can write up some awesome, interesting discussion posts. (When I try to do discussion posts, I end up writing a few paragraphs of gibberish.

What are your goals for your blog in the future?

More author/publisher interaction! I rarely do guest posts and interviews but that is something I’m working on changing!

What is your best book blogging moment?

BEA 2011 was six days of non-stop best book blogging moments for me. Authors & publishers & agents & bloggers & librarians are the best people in the world and I was a grinning fool the whole time because I got to be a part of that.

Favorites:

-Book of all time: Can I cheat? I’m totally cheating. Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken, Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor and Divergent by Veronica Roth are recent additions to the list!

-New release: Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard. What a GORGEOUS novel!

-Genre: I am a fantasy fangirl all the way.

-Place to Read: My bed. Nothing better than getting cozy under a warm blanket with a good book!

-TV show: True Blood. But I’m also pretty obsessed with Jane By Design. It’s like The Devil Wears Prada meets a Stephanie Perkins novel. So, so good.

-Candy: Can I say all of it? No? Okay, I love Airheads. And Reese Eggs. And Strawberry Belts. And Jolly Rancher Jelly Beans.

-Drink: Diet Pepsi and Vitamin Water. I’m currently living off both.

  1. Cartoons are great! I agree with the bit about why she started her blog, that’s why I started mine too. I’ve heard such good things about Wanderlove so I should really read it soon. Hehe I love the description of Jane by Design! Great interview. 😀

  2. “But I’m also pretty obsessed with Jane By Design. It’s like The Devil Wears Prada meets a Stephanie Perkins novel. So, so good.” THAT’S EXACTLY IT. I can’t think of a better way to describe. I FREAKING LOVE THAT SHOW. Tormented me with that season finale 😛

And WHOA we are alike in some ways. Perverted sense of humor? Check. Life-changing book is Twilight? Check. Recent all time favorite is Brightly Woven? HELL YES. Fantasy buff? Check, check, check. Looks like we have a lot of common interests, Katie, and it’s good to hear I’m not the only one on a lot of these.

  3. She’s hilarious!! Firstly, love her blog title. Secondly, I like that kind of weird. Thirdly, YAY for Twilight!! Down with eyerolls. Loved what she said about her mom and crime books. Hilarious 🙂

    Lovely interview 🙂
