This weeks theme is contemporary books!

Title: Reunited
Author: Hilary Weisman Graham
Release date: June 12, 2012

1 Concert
2000 Miles
3 Ex-Best Friends

Alice, Summer, and Tiernan are ex-best friends.

Back in middle school, the three girls were inseparable. They were also the number one fans of the rock band Level3.

But when the band broke up, so did their friendship. Summer ran with the popular crowd, Tiernan was a rebellious wild-child, and Alice spent high school with her nose buried in books.

Now, just as the girls are about to graduate, Level3 announces a one-time-only reunion show.

Even though the concert’s 2000 miles away, Alice buys three tickets on impulse. And as it turns out, Summer and Tiernan have their own reasons for wanting to get out of town. Good thing Alice’s graduation gift (a pea-green 1976 VW camper van known as the Pea Pod) is just the vehicle to get them there.

But on the long drive cross-country, the girls hit more than a few bumps in the road. Will their friendship get an encore or is the show really over?

Title: Something Like Normal
Author: Trish Doller
Release date: June 19, 2012

When Travis returns home from a stint in Afghanistan, his parents are splitting up, his brother’s stolen his girlfriend and his car, and he’s haunted by nightmares of his best friend’s death. It’s not until Travis runs into Harper, a girl he’s had a rocky relationship with since middle school, that life actually starts looking up. And as he and Harper see more of each other, he begins to pick his way through the minefield of family problems and post-traumatic stress to the possibility of a life that might resemble normal again. Travis’s dry sense of humor, and incredible sense of honor, make him an irresistible and eminently lovable hero.

Title: Unbreak My Heart
Author: Melissa Walker
Release date: May 22, 2012

Sophomore year broke Clementine Williams’ heart. She fell for her best friend’s boyfriend and long story short: he’s excused, but Clem is vilified and she heads into summer with zero social life. Enter her parents’ plan to spend the summer on their sailboat. Normally the idea of being stuck on a tiny boat with her parents and little sister would make Clem break out in hives, but floating away sounds pretty good right now. Then she meets James at one of their first stops along the river. He and his dad are sailing for the summer and he’s just the distraction Clem needs. Can he break down Clem’s walls and heal her broken heart? Told in alternating chapters that chronicle the year that broke Clem’s heart and the summer that healed it, Unbreak My Heart is a wonderful dual love story that fans of Sarah Dessen, Deb Caletti, and Susane Colasanti will flock to.

  1. Yes, to all of these books! I’d probably add in A Midsummer’s Nightmare, too. I think my most wanted books for this summer/fall are contemps. There are so many amazing looking ones and I need to have them all…haha! This is an awesome feature, and title reminds me of a Jack Johnson song, which is also cool :0)

  2. Yup, those are all on my wishlist:P I got both Unbreak My Heart and Something Like Normal from Netgalley, but haven’t gotten around to reading them yet.

  3. SOOOOOOO looking forward to Something Like Normal and Such a Rush. The thing about the Truth sounds good too! Reunited sound like fun but I don’t know how much romance is actually in it and I’m kinda romance junkie. Might give it a go when it comes out after all love road trips!

Great picks, loving contemporary 2012 🙂

  4. I am waiting on every one of these books! Well, I already have Something Like Normal. And I read Unbreak my Heart & loved it! The rest I cannot wait to get my hands on! Great picks!

  5. Something Like Normal was awesome!! Totally one of my fave 2012 releases so far. Unbreak my heart was cute, but not nearly as good. The rest I really want to read too!

  6. Something Like Normal is one of my all-time favorites. I also love the couple kissing cover. I think with it being all grainy and not in color, it makes the book stand out.
