Blogger Interview: Amanda from Letters Inside Out!

Today I have an interview with the amazing Amanda from Letters Inside Out!

What are you like outside of blogging?

Right now most of my non-blogging time is spent researching and taking notes. I’m in the process of a new writing project, that is taking up most of my free time. I also love to bake, but don’t do that nearly enough!

What book changed your life?

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson – When I first found this book, I was kind of lost. It was high school, I was going through a lot of stuff and it was such a big help. Since then, it’s been one of my top books to recommend.

What made you decide to start your blog?

I started out reviewing for a small newsletter, when I was no longer eligible for that I was kind of lost. Someone suggested starting a book blog. I actually never planned on it being for more than myself and a few close friends, but I then learned there was a huge community and that made it even more fun.

What blogs/bloggers inspire you?

I’m pretty fortunate that my best friend of 10 years, Preet at A Written Rhapsody, is a blogger! She is the one who encouraged me to start blogging in the first place. Then once I started I pushed her to start one too.

When I first started blogging, I made friends with a group of bloggers. Two that I talk to daily are Rebecca at Kindle Fever and April at My Shelf Confessions. Both blog about different genres and have introduced me to books that I’d probably otherwise never read.

And two of my favorite blogs to visit that I don’t know all that well, but they inspire me for various reasons: Bewitched Bookworms and VeganYANerds.

What are your goals for your blog in the future?

I am wanting to get focused again, this year has been pretty crazy for me. As a result, I’ve gotten distracted and I miss it! I want to get back on track and just continue sharing great books with bloggers and my non-blogger friends.

What is your best book blogging moment?

I know this is cheesy, but isn’t every moment awesome?! I think my favorites are emails are just saying thank you. Whether they are from a reader who is excited about something I’ve mentioned or an author/publisher! Those are the little things that can make bad days so much better.

One recently that made me happy was an author who emailed me, because I had bought her book and it was featured on a mailbox post. She wrote me a thank you for supporting her as a debut author. It was so touching.

Favorites:

-Book of all time – Jane Eyre

-New release – My most recent favorite – City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

-Genre – This varies so regularly, but as of late I’ve been hooked on contemporary.

-Place to Read – In bed.

-TV show – The Vampire Diaries is my must watch weekly show!

-Candy – Skittles! They are the perfect non-messy candy.

-Drink – The boring answer would be water. I drink a lot of water, but I’m going to go with my weakness: white chocolate mocha frappuccinos. Yum!

  1. Of course I’m totally loving Amanda as I’m a huge fan of her awesomeness. 😀

Every moment IS awesome, so we’ll allow you to be cheesy this time. 😀 Also: Bewitched Bookworms and VeganYANerds too!

I’m super curious about Speak and hope I’ll get to read it sometime! The Vampire Diaries are mom’s favorite show too now! Even though I have to explain everything that happens to her. LOL.

  2. I find it interesting that Speak changed your life. I started it once, and I had trouble finishing it. When I tried reading it I was a bit younger and didn’t want to handle the truth of what happened in the book. Since then, I’ve seen it change a lot of peoples lives. It’s almost helped them find a way among things knowing that you’ll be okay even if the worst happens to you. I think I’m going to try picking it up again sometime soon. Great interview!

  3. It’s so cool that they’re best friends in real life and both are bloggers! They can go to all the book events together 🙂

It’s awesome when bloggers write, I hope she gets published soon!

    Lovely interview 🙂
