I am so excited for 2013. I think it’s going to be another fabulous year for young adult and I’m eager to jump into all the books! Here are the top 13 books being published in 2013 that are on my wishlist.
#1 Final Divergent book by Veronica Roth
The ending of Insurgent was pretty killer. I cannot wait to see where the story is going to go in the final book. (Also, I can’t wait for the title and cover!)
#2 Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins
Stephanie Perkins’ books are some of my all-time favorites and while I was sad that this book wasn’t published this year, I have a feeling the wait is going to be worth it.
#3 Gates of Paradise (Blue Bloods #7) by Melissa de la Cruz
The Blue Bloods series is one of my favorite vampire series’ out there and the end of the series promises to be pretty epic.
#4 Clockwork Princess (Infernal Devices #3) by Cassandra Clare
I really hope this is the final book in the Infernal Devices trilogy because I don’t think I can stand the wait for any more books. I want to know exactly how the story ends, how everything ties together, and how everyone gets their happy endings. Cassandra Clare and Simon & Schuster better not decide to add another three books to this trilogy like they did with The Mortal Instruments.
#5 Boundless (Unearthly #3) by Cynthia Hand
My heart was broken in Hallowed and I need it to be fixed with Boundless. I’m dying to know what happens and who Clara ends up with! (Team Tucker!!)
#6 This Is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith
I completely adored The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight and from the cover and summary, this one should be just as fabulous.
#7 Things I Can’t Forget by Miranda Kenneally
I have become such a Miranda Kenneally fangirl. I’m currently plotting how to get my hands on an early copy of this one because I’m not sure I can wait much longer!
Jane by April Lindner is one of the best retellings I have ever read. Catherine sounds like it will be just as fabulous and I have very high expectations for this one.
#9 Enders (Starters #2) by Lissa Price
I didn’t expect to love Starters as much as I did but I was hooked by that story. It’s a duology (as far as I know) so I’m excited to see how everything is going to end in Enders.
#10 Siege & Storm (Grisha #2) by Leigh Bardugo
Shadow & Bone made it on my top 12 list of 2012 and it’s definitely on my list of all-time favorites as well. The ending wasn’t a major cliffhanger but I loved the world and the story so much that I just want to dive back in.
#11 The Originals by Cat Patrick
Cat Patrick has surprised me with both of her books. They are suspenseful, fun, the characters are relatable, and they both have pretty awesome romances. The Originals sounds like it’s going to be just as suspenseful as her previous two and I’m very much looking forward to reading it.
#12 The Beautiful and the Cursed by Page Morgan
Okay so my inner cover whore is shining through with this pick. I honestly want to read this one because the cover is absolutely gorgeous. The cover designers outdid themselves with this book.
#13 The Hero’s Guide to Storming the Castle by Christopher Healy
The Hero’s Guide to Saving the Kingdom was the first middle grade book I reviewed here on Katie’s Book Blog and it was a great book to start with. It was fun, light, and had a happy ending. I couldn’t stop laughing while reading and it left me with a smile on my face. I have a feeling the sequel is going to be the same way.
What are some of your most anticipated books of 2013? Feel free to leave links if you did a post about it!
Clockwork Princess and Divergent #3 were on my list as well! There are so many great books coming out 😀
You can check out my post here
Oh my gosh, I totally agree! I seriously can’t wait for Isla and the Happily Ever After, This Is What Happy Looks LIke, Things I Can’t Forget, and Catherine. I love all of those authors, so I’m excited to see what they have in store for us next! Great list 🙂
-Jessica (Peace Love Books)
I’m looking forward to quite a few of these as well especially Siege and Storm-can’t wait to see the cover and speculate on how it will relate to the story.
I can’t wait to read Divergent #3 as well! 😀

I cannot wait for Isla!!!!
Glitch #2 and #3 are both coming out in 2013. 🙂 I’m excited for the 3rd Divergent as well…
And then all of these books:
The Nightmare Affair by Mindee Arnett (here), Monsters by Ilsa J. Bick (here), Dualed by Elsie Chapman (here), Frozen by Melissa de la Cruz (here), Midnight Frost by Jennifer Estep (here), The Loop by Shandy Lawson (here), Gameboard of the Gods by Richelle Mead (here), Requiem from Lauren Oliver (here), Shades of the Earth by Beth Revis (here), The Life Beyond by Susanne Winnacker (here), and The Program by Suzanne Young (here).
I can’t wait for the third Divergent book!!! I’m so excited!!
I really need to read books by Veronica Roth. Heard so much about them but haven’t had a chance this year.
Thanks for sharing your list!
I am so excited for so many books being released in 2013, but Divergent #3 has got to be the top one. I need the cover & title soon to hold me over!
All those books sound great! I’m so excited for Boundless, and I’m Team Tucker 😉 Also, This is What Happy Looks Like sounds really cute. Great picks!
I have a ton of these on my TBR list, so it looks like we’ll be able to fangirl about these books together, Katie! 😉 I am pretty much DYING for Divergent #3, because I am pretty much the ultimate Divergent fan (along with Sophia @ The Book Basements, if you know her). But I know there will be tears, because I won’t be able to let go of Tris and Four! I also can’t wait for Siege & Storm. I loved how the ending was a cliffhanger for once, but I’m super excited to see what happens with Alina and Mal. I haven’t heard of The Originals before, but it totally sounds like my kind of read with the cloning and all. It’s going on my TBR, as is The Beautiful and the Dark! I don’t even need to read the synopsis for that book, the cover alone is the reason it’s going on my TBR. 😉
Fantastic list Katie! 2013 definitely seems like it is going to be an ah-mazing year of YA books.
Nice compilation: I have a few in common. I really looking forward to your #10. I loved Shadow and Bone and want to know what is going to happen. I also have fallen for the Unearthly series. I am curious to see what happens and Stanford should be an exciting setting for the next book.
I can’t wait to read the Isla book by Stephanie Perkins either (also I can’t wait to see the cover!!!)… and I really like Statistical Prob. too so This is What Happy Looks Like is going to be exciting for me! My goal in 2013 is to read the Miranda Kenneally books, they look so good!!
Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire should be on this list!!!
I didn’t realize Stephanie Perkins had a new book coming out – wonderful!
I can’t wait for Miranda Kenneally’s book!!!
So many awesome titles in 2013 and most of your list are ones I am also excited for, especially Divergent 3, Clockwork Princess, and Boundless (which I’m counting down the days for). I really enjoyed Cat Patrick’s Revived so her new book is one I will definitely pick up. 🙂
Definitely excited about Divergent 3 (I heard it was going to be called Convergent, not sure if that is correct though), Clockwork Princess (!!!!), that above Cat Patrick, the second Heroes Guide etc. (as the first was great). And I’m also dying for Scarlett, The Goddess Inheritance (love that series by Aimee Carter!), Requiem (REALLY dying for that one), The Elite anddddd The Girl With The Iron Touch from Kady Cross. Sierra
Keep growing beautiful!
I just keep adding, but that’s a good thing.
YES to Isla, This is What Happy Looks Like, and Catherine. Also: Boundless- I’m in the middle of Hallowed right now and I’m loving it! I’m so glad I’m an Epic Reads newbie and I get an ARC of the final book:) (Totally not bragging there. Okay, maybe a little.)
The Final Divergent and Isla and the Happily Ever After are at the top of my lists as well! There was a tweet (I think yesterday) about Etienne St. Clair showing up earlier in the book then he was expected too. (from Stephanie Perkins) SO YEAH. I’m fairly excited. And I completely agree with you on the fan girling over Miranda Kenneally… her books are SO good. –
Great list!
I hope the story is as beautiful as it’s cover for The Beautiful and the Cursed. Hope you have a great New Year!
Awesome list! The tops on my list include BEING HENRY DAVID by Cal Amistead, DEAR LIFE, YOU SUCK by Scott Blagden, and DR. BIRD’S ADVICE FOR SAD POETS by Evan Roskos.
Isla is totally my most anticipated. and I think Stephanie Perkins was so brave and kind to tell us why they’ve had to push the date back. I think she helped lots of people by talking about her depression and anxiety.
