I’m pretty bad with New Year’s resolutions. I never stick to them. In fact, I tend to forget about them right after I think of them. This year I’m trying something different though. I’m actually going to post them here on the blog and hopefully having them here will help me remember them.
4 Blogging Resolutions
Blog what I want/when I want!
I’ve started to do this one already. I’ve slowed things down on the blog and I’m posting more personal things. I’m trying to bring the blog back to what it originally was and I’m slowly starting to enjoy blogging again.
Read more books for pleasure.
For the past few years (ever since I started blogging) I’ve been obsessed with getting review books read and I’ve had to put aside books that I wanted to read for myself. I’m still going to read review books obviously but I’m going to try to switch things up every now and then so I also get to read books I buy.
Feature more authors on my blog.
I can’t always review every book I want to but I would love to feature authors on my blog in other ways. Starting in 2013 I’m going to try to post a lot more interviews, guest posts, and things like that.
Be more interactive in the blogging community.
I definitely slacked off this year as far as participating in the blogging community. I just got so overwhelmed with things that I stopped commenting, stopped chatting on Twitter, stopped doing anything other than the bare minimum. That’s going to change in 2013.
4 Life Resolutions
Work out at least 3 times a week.
I’m not unhealthy but I’m a little out of shape. I work at a desk job so I’m always sitting and I’d just like to be a little more active. I think it would make me feel a little better about myself.
Only drink one soda a day.
I’m addicted to soda. I love Dr.Pepper and I admit that I drink way too much of it. Starting in 2013 I want to drink a lot more water so I need to start cutting out the soda. Hopefully I can go from one a day to one a week or so.
Be less shy!
It may not seem like it online but in real life I’m a quiet person and I don’t ever branch out of my comfort zone. I’d like to try and be a little more outgoing in 2013 but I think this one is going to be kind of hard.
Spend more time with people.
Being a big reader, I spend a lot of time on my own. I want to change that in 2013. I want to spend more time with friends even if it does cut out some of my reading time.
Do you have any resolutions for 2013?
Fantastic resolutions. I have a lot of the same. Life definitely got in the way last year which affected blogging, I hope you can achieve these goals. Good luck 😀
Thos are all totally do-able! You are going to kick 2013’s butt!
Great goals! Good luck with all of them!
I really, really like your goals. You should definitely start reading more books for pleasure/ blogging what you want. You deserve it and honestly, things like that are what give your blog personality. I’d love to see posts like that. I can relate to the shy thing too. I’m so shy! It’s awful… But I’m really going to try to get out there more this year and meet people. I’m just shy… Oh and about the soda thing! Maybe you could try getting addicted to other drinks that are good but healthier. Like tea, which I love. I’m addicted to hot chocolate (I know, I’m a terrible person) but I’m going to try to stop that.
Here’s my resolution: http://siriusyareader.blogspot.com/2013/01/new-years-blogging-resolution.html
Your resolutions are so similar to mine, and I wish you the best of luck in following through with them! I might borrow your idea and post mine to my blog too ;), keep me more in check.
I think these are great resolutions Katie, good luck with them 🙂
I definitely want to become a more consistent blogger again, I’ve slacked off these last couple of months and I want to get back to being the active blogger I was. And I definitely want to interact more with my fellow bloggers!

These are great goals, Katie! I like how you separated your different types of goals. It seems like you were so strict on yourself in 2012! I’m so glad you are being more lenient with yourself in 2013. Hopefully you’ll be happier! I agree with your “Spend More Time with people” goal, because I am in the same situation as you! Great goals, and good luck, Katie!
This is a GREAT list! I love it! Kind of inspires me to write my own… 🙂
These are great resolutions! I try to stick to mine, but don’t usually. I haven’t written up a list, but after checking yours out, I might have to. Happy New Year Katie 🙂
I actually have a lot of the same resolutions as you: especially the work out more, and be less shy part! I also wanted to start doing more posts featuring authors. Can’t wait to see what your blog has in store for us in 2013! Happy New Year Katie! =)
Aww … I’m so shy, too. I work in a job where I have to interact with people and I’m fine with that, but when it comes to friends, I can be so shy!
I love your resolution of blogging what you want, when you want, and getting the blog back to what it originally was. That’s what blogging should be! As much as I love review copies, there are so many OTHER books I want to read … I’m hoping to do the same thing, too. 🙂
Good luck with your goals and resolutions, Katie!
I have some of the same resolutions and I know what people say about resolutions, but i like setting them – gives me something to strive towards 🙂
Happy new year! Great resolutions 🙂
These are perfect goals- things at which you will need to work hard, but things that are very much attainable. I need to work on being less shy as well, so here’s to a wonderful 2013 full of completed resolutions!
Great resolutions! I’m trying to read more books for pleasure too, so good luck to us both!
Awesome resolutions!! Happy New Year! I also posted my resolutions hoping to be held more accountable with this upcoming year as I also make them and then forget them.
I always break any resolutions made, but I would like to read even more. I find I just can’t catch up.
Resolutions totally stress me out. It’s like if I don’t live up to them I’m a total loser.
Yours sound realistic and very life-enhancing, especially about being less shy (though that’s a tough one in reality, but the more you do it the easier it gets).
How’d you do ?
