Blogger Interview: Cindy from Cindy’s Love of Books!

Today I have the wonderful Cindy from Cindy’s Love of Books!

What are you like outside of blogging?

Outside of blogging I tend to me a little shy and reserved at first (that’s if you don’t know me) but if you know me you know that isn’t true because I am a funny and down to earth person.

What made you decide to start your blog?

I think the reason I started to blog was because my son had just started kindergarden and I had decided that I was going to be a stay at home mom for awhile and I was looking to fill some time in my day. It was suppose to be sort of like a journal to myself and to keep track of the books I had read and what I thought of them.

What is your best book blogging moment?

Oh my gosh, I have had so many great blogging moments and I cherish them all but I really have to say the all time best one is having Lesley Livingston recognize my blog when I went to her signing. I totally fan girled on her. She must of thought I was crazy but just having an author know you feels awesome. Its the best feeling in the world.

To help some of the newer bloggers: what have you found to be the best way to network and get your blog out there?

I think the best way to network and get your blog out there would be to comment on other blogs (I tend to follow blogs who comment on my blog), go to social networking sites (facebook, twitter, good reads etc), taking part in memes are all good ways to get your blog out there. I have noticed commenting on memes and leaving my link has helped alot. Also if you go to author events have business cards to hand out and be open to talking to complete strangers in a signing line. We don’t bite and for the most part are super friendly and love to talk to others about our passion.

What book turned you on to YA?

I have always read YA for the most part because they are so well written and they step outside the box more so then adult fiction. As an adult you don’t always know whats going on with kids today so being able to read it is a great way in staying in touch.

How many books do you own?

Oh my gosh, do you really want to know? I have two five shelf bookcases that are jammed pack. a small four shelf bookcase jammed packed as well along with a cedar chest filled to the brim and numerous boxes in my basement. I would probably estimate it to be several hundred books. I know crazy eh?

What are some blogs you recommend reading?

Wow this is a hard question to answer and I hope I don’t hurt anyone’s feelings but a few that I read all the time are:  Tynga’s Reviews, Midnight Book Girl, On the Wings of Books, Bermuda Onion, and Book Journey.

Favorites:

Book of all time:  Wuthering Heights (I read this in high school and loved it)

New release: This isn’t out yet but I am super excited for it. It’s Morality by Kellie Sheridan. She is a young Canadian author that I know personally.

Genre: fiction and some paranormal

Place to Read:  Curled up on the couch under a blanket

TV show: Law & Order SVU, Glee, Pretty Little Liars, and some reality TV such as Big Brother, Amazing Race,Survivor and a few others that I can’t think of right now

Candy: I am more into the chocolates and my down fall is peanut M&M’s

Song: Finally Found You by Enrique

  3. I’ve heard it a lot, that commenting on memes and in general helps with getting other bloggers to your own website. It does make sense, especially since memes are designed to up followers for blogs that feature it.
