The past few years held more surprises than part-angel Clara Gardner ever could have anticipated. Yet through the dizzying high of first love to the agonizing low of losing someone close to her, the one thing she could no longer deny was that she was never meant to have a normal life.

Since discovering the special role she plays among the other angel-bloods, Clara has been determined to protect Tucker Avery from the evil that follows her . . . even if it means breaking both their hearts. Leaving town seemed like the best option, so she’s headed back to California—and so is Christian Prescott, the irresistible boy from the vision that started her on this journey in the first place.

As Clara makes her way in a world that is frighteningly new, she discovers that the fallen angel who attacked her is watching her every move. And he’s not the only one. . . . With the battle against the Black Wings looming, Clara knows she must finally fulfill her destiny. But it won’t come without sacrifices and betrayal.

In the riveting finale of the Unearthly series, Clara must choose her fate once and for all.

First off, this is a completely spoiler free review!
Boundless is a satisfying conclusion to the Unearthly trilogy.  I was more than happy with this ending and while I felt that it didn’t quite live up to the awesomeness of the first two books, it was pretty
dang close!
The story is a little slow in Boundless.  I was expecting something pulse-pounding and full of action but instead there wasn’t a whole lot of that until the end.  Sure there were some very shocking things that happened but they didn’t make me feel like I had to keep reading.  It was a very slow build up to an awesome ending but it was a little difficult to push through the first half of the book.
I have always been Team Tucker but I definitely understood Team Christian fans in this book.  Readers get to see a really sweet side of Christian in Boundless and I really grew to like him.  Don’t get me wrong, my allegiance never swayed from Tucker but I definitely liked Christian more than I did in the previous books.  Also, there wasn’t a whole lot of Tucker in Boundless and let me just say, I was rather disappointed about that.  If you are a Team Tucker fan like me, just be prepared for that.
The ending wrapped up everything in the trilogy very nicely.  If I do say so myself it was almost too perfect but I’m okay with that.  All my questions were answered (even some I didn’t know I had) and I was definitely left smiling.
Overall, I definitely recommend this conclusion if you’ve enjoyed the previous books in the trilogy.  I look forward to whatever Cynthia Hand writes next!

  1. I’m glad you enjoyed this one. I have still yet to get my hands on a copy but I can’t wait to finish this trilogy. I love both Tucker and Christian and I can’t seem to choose between them both, and I’m a bit disappointed by the lack of Tucker. Oh well, I’m sure I’ll still love it! Great review =).

  2. This one was a little slow! I too was sad Tucker played such a small part. I actually didn’t hate Christian so thats progress for me :). I thought this one wrapped up so well! I’m sad to see this series end! Great review Katie <3

  3. Yay! Spoiler free! I haven’t read too many reviews for Boundless because I’m afraid of spoilers (even accidental ones). I’m glad you enjoyed this one, Katie! I feel like everyone’s been more or less satisfied with the conclusion to this series, and that makes me hopeful that I’ll like it as well. (Super sad that Tucker’s not a major player in this, though.)

  4. I’ve just gotten around to reading Hallowed, and I thought that it didn’t live up to Unearthly. I’m a little disappointed and not super excited about Boundless now. It’s nice to hear, though, that Christian gets more exposure/explanation in this book. So far, the love triangle has seemed very forced to me, and it will be good to see Christian get a chance to prove himself a little more. Or maybe it’s Clara that needs to prove herself. She seems to think she SHOULD like him, more than she actually DOES like him, which has been baffling to me.

  5. I loved how this series ended. I think the writing was superb and that only made perfect characterization be even more perfect. The whole angels and their purpose on earth concept was so very well done, and I loved how they were really just normal kids.

The epilogue was a wonderful way for us fans to be even happier.

    Lovely review
