Movie/TV news:

The awesome Personal Demons trilogy by Lisa Desrochers has been optioned by Ineffable Pictures.  For more information head over to The Hollywood Reporter

We have even more casting news for the Delirium TV show.  Julian and Alex have been cast.  Julian will be played by Gregg Sulkin and Alex will be played by Daren Kagasoff.  Head over to Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter for all the details.  

And there’s another TV show based on a YA dystopian novel that’s gotten some casting news recently.  The Selection by Kiera Cass is slowly making it’s way to the CW.  America Singer has been recast.  Yael Grobglas has been cast as America.  Head over to Just Jared Jr. for all the details.

And last, but not least, Prince Maxon has also been recast for The Selection.  Michael Malarkey will be playing Prince Maxon.  I don’t know about you guys but I’m very happy with this casting.  Head over to Just Jared Jr. for more information.

Publishing news:

Lots of book news this week!

Scholastic’s Graphix imprint has picked up two books by Raina Telgemeier.  The first book will be a companion to Smile, titled Sisters, and will be published in 2014.  The second book will also be a graphic novel.  For more information about the books, head over to Publishers Weekly

Scholastic has acquired The Last Summer of the Swift Boys, Kody Keplinger’s debut middle grade novel.  Publication is scheduled for 2014.  Head over to Publishers Weekly for all the details.

Simon and Schuster Books for Young Readers has acquired two middle grade novels by Emma Trevayne.  The first book, Gearwing, is a steampunk book set to be published in 2014.  Publishers Weekly has all the details if you’re interested.

Scholastic Press has bought Sara B. Larson’s debut YA novel, titled Defy.  It is pitched as “in the vein of Kristin Cashore and Leigh Bardugo.” It is set for publication in spring 2014.  Once again, Publishers Weekly has all the info.

Sarah Ockler, a queen of contemporary, has a couple new books in the future.  Simon Pulse signed two new contemporaries from Sarah Ockler.  The first book, Love & Other Internet Disasters is set for publication in spring 2014.  Head over to Publishers Weekly for more info.

After all the mass #ClockworkPrincess tweeting this past week, fans have been rewarded.  The first chapter of Clockwork Princess is available to read now.  Head over to TMI Source to read the chapter.

I don’t know about you guys but I always love finding out more about upcoming releases.  Publishers Weekly has posted an awesome Fall Preview and they have mentioned quite a few wonderful sounding books.  Head over to PW for all the information.

Armentrout’s current YA series may be wrapping up in the near future but don’t worry, there’s some new stuff to come.  Her newest series is about a half demon, half gargoyle teenage girl.  So far there are plans for three books and they have all sold to Harlequin Teen. Noteworthy blog posts/articles:

There’s a new online book club out there.  The Literature Lion and Novel Nerd have started Just Read It! which will begin with a reading of Dualed by Elsie Chapman for March.  It sounds like a great book club and you can find out more over at The Literature Lion or Novel Nerd.

With the recent cover reveals this past week, there has been a little uproar.  Kelsey over at Kelsey R. Dickson posted two discussions.  The first was an open letter to publishing companies which you can read here.  The second is a clarification regarding some of the things that were misunderstood in the first post.  You can read that one here

This year seems to be one for endings; series endings, that is.  I can’t tell you how many of my favorite series/trilogies are ending this year.  It seems I’m not the only one who is going to be missing some series.  Emilie over at Emilie’s Book World posted a lovely discussion on the topic of series endings.  Head over to her blog to read the post!

    1. I actually really like the new actors that they have chosen. The original cast was good but this one isn’t bad either.

    2. SO excited to see the Fire with Fire cover!! I met Siobhan Vivian last month and she told me the cover would be out soon and would feature the same 3 girls on it 🙂 She also said they were talking about making it into a tv show… I hope it happens!

  4. omg! Julian was ALSO CAST? I am pretty excited for the casting of Alex.. I really like the actor. and wow The Selection has already cast its actors?… I am hoping Shatter Me will get optioned for a movie or tv show soon!
