August’s Exciting New Releases!

August's Exciting NewReleasesThis month marks the beginning of something new here on Katie’s Book Blog.  Every month there are a ton of new releases and I feel like a lot of them get overlooked.  I decided I’m going to spotlight a few books that Iam excited about each month.  These may include books I’ve read or books I’ve been dying to read!

Isla

Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins – out August 14 from Dutton

This is one I’ve already read but I can’t not mention it.  Every contemporary fan should have this on their list of books to read.  It’s absolute perfection and you can read more about it in my review when it’s posted.

gates

Gates of Thread and Stone by Lori M. Lee – out August 5 from Amazon Skyscape

This is the start of a new series from debut author Lori M. Lee.  It’s a fantasy series that also features time travel, romance, and adventure.  It has all the makings of a new favorite for me.

Forget Me

Forget Me by K.A. Harrington – out August 7 from Putnam

K.A. Harrington is also known as Kim Harrington who wrote Clarity and Perception, two books I thoroughly enjoyed.  This one is a bit different from her previous two that I’ve read but it’s a psychological thriller so I’m eager to check it out.

Fiendish 2

Fiendish by Brenna Yovanoff – out August 14 from Razorbill

Fiendish is under a couple categories on Goodreads and every one of those categories interests me.  It’s supposed to be a bit horror, a bit mystery, a bit paranormal, and supposedly set in a gothic town.  As if that’s not enough to intrigue me, it’s written by Brenna Yovanoff who has one of the most gorgeous styles of writing.  (Think like Maggie Stiefvater/Victoria Schwab writing.)

A Little Something

A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall – out August 28 from Swoon Reads

A Little Something Different is a contemporary love story set in college and told from 14 different points of view.  I think there might even be the point of view of a squirrel at one point.  How awesome is that?

Of Metal

Of Metal and Wishes by Sarah Fine – out August 5 from Margaret K. McElderry Books

This ghost story just so happens to be a retelling of The Phantom of the Opera.  I adore the Phanton of the Opera and the fact that this is set in a slaughterhouse just makes it that much more awesome.

What are some of your most exciting releases for August?  Have you read any of the ones I mentioned?

  1. EEEP. THE MONTH HAS ARRIVED FOR ISLA! I am so so excited for it 🙂 And I recently got an early galley of GATES, and it sounds amazing! I’ll have to read it soon. 🙂 A LITTLE SOMETHING DIFFERENT sounds… different and cute! Love the cover. Thanks for sharing, Katie!

  2. So many amazing books releasing. It’s such an exciting time for publishing, despite all the drama and uproar over certain aspects of how the game of publishing is changing.
