Hey! Look who it is! Yeah, I know, I suck as a blogger. You would think that with it being summer, I would have plenty of time to read and you’d be right. I have been reading. I just haven’t been blogging.
I’m not gonna lie, I’ve actually been reading more than ever before. I lowered my Goodreads goal this year because I just didn’t think I would be able to read more than 100 books. I’m now at 80 books which puts me 20 books ahead of schedule. Deciding to back off from the blog and social media has done wonders for my reading time. It has also done wonders for my happiness. Blogging is stressful work. It used to be a bunch of fun and I’d come home from work and look forward to just working on the blog. That stopped being the case a while ago. I kept thinking about coming back to blogging and I’d start to work on a post and just give up. It held no appeal to me. I mean, it has been almost 8 years. I figured I’d get tired of it way before now.
However, that’s not to say that I’m done. I’ve spent a lot of time lately just thinking about life and my priorities. I spent so much time this summer focusing on other people and I finally decided it’s time to just do what I want. That means I’ll be blogging again but it probably won’t be like it was before. I’m not going back to review all the books I read while I was taking a little blogging break. I will probably mention them around here or on Twitter or Goodreads but that is way too much work and I’m not about that right now. I want to bring the fun back to my blog. I really miss the way blogging used to be for me and it’s time I got that joy back in my life.
So that’s it. I will see you guys around here and on Twitter and probably even on Instagram though I admit that I’m pretty lazy with that one. I’ve missed blogging and I really look forward to jumping back in and seeing where things go!
I’m gonna start off by saying that I know I have been absent lately or at least been posting very sporadically. I keep making plans to schedule a ton of reviews or other posts and then I never do. I have to admit, I don’t exactly know what I’m doing right now as far as the blog goes. This has been a weird year for me and the blog had to take a backseat to everything else. January 2016 will be 7 years for me and while I don’t want to quit blogging, I think I need to figure out a different direction.
It’s not that I don’t love blogging anymore because I do. It also has nothing to do with reading. I’ve been reading a ton and loving a lot of books. I want to share those books with everyone, I just don’t know how anymore. I haven’t written a review in ages and I’m not exactly proud of the ones I have written. Not only that, it’s gotten extremely tough for me to write a review. I just don’t know what I want to say and I don’t know how to get started. I’ve gotta get my groove back and it’s gonna take some time and experimentation to do that.
I hope you guys understand that it’s not you, it’s me. I’m still posting a lot on Twitter and I’ve been attempting to utilize my Instagram more so if you want to see what I’m reading or what I’m up to, make sure to follow me on those accounts (@katiesbookblog for both). I really hope to find my blogging mojo again soon and I love all of you guys for sticking with me through this.
Oh and happy holidays!
As you may have noticed, posts around here have been scarce lately. I’m in college right now and the semester has been crazy. I’ve barely had time to read anything outside of required reading for classes and what I have been able to read I haven’t had the chance to review yet. I’m sorry for the lack of posts but please just bear with me for the next 3 weeks and then I will be back.
So, what have you been reading lately? Any suggestions for me to read and review over winter break?
I’m sure you guys have noticed a lack of posts on the blog lately. This is my first semester back at school after taking some time off and it’s taking up a lot more of my time than I thought it would. I’ve been completely swamped and while I’ve still been reading, it hasn’t been as much and I have struggled to find time to write reviews.
Basically, I just wanted to let everyone know that I’m not going anywhere but posts will be sparse for a little while. Finals are coming up and I’m dreading them. All my time right now is consumed with final papers and projects and as soon as those are done I have to devote all my time to studying. Let me just say, my life is no fun right now. =)
I’ll try to be back as soon as possible but until then, enjoy the few posts I do find the time to type up.
In the mean time, what are you guys reading? Anything I should add to my TBR or maybe move up the pile? Winter break is coming up and I could use some recommendations!
You guys, I have a new design. I know I’ve mentioned it on Twitter but it’s finally in place for everyone to see! The lovely Katie of KD Creates
designed it for me (she did my previous design as well) and I couldn’t be more pleased. If you ever want a blog design, I highly recommend her!
Let me know what you think of the new design!
Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere but I am going to slow things down a bit. I’ve seen posts like this on a lot of blogs recently and I was certain that that wasn’t going to happen to me but I was wrong.
Life has gotten really crazy for me and blogging has to come second to me. I put so much pressure on myself to do everything and I’m finally starting to realize that I just can’t. I want to be a 21-year-old and have fun and have a life and right now, it’s hard for me to do that. I work full time, I go to school online, I run this blog, and that leaves very little time to do things outside of what’s required of me. I can’t not go to school and I can’t quit my job so it looks like blogging is what’s going to have to change.
This past year, I’ve read so many amazing books, I’ve done so many amazing things with blogging, and I still love it but it has changed for me. With all the new blogs popping up daily I feel this need to keep trying to make my blog even better so I don’t get lost among all the other blogs. I’ve been focusing more on the blog than I am on reading and that’s not why I started this blog. This blog needs to be about me, not other blogs/bloggers. That’s why I’m going to take it slow from here on out. I’m not going to force myself to post something daily (sometimes twice daily), I’m not going to make myself read review books when there’s some other book I’d much rather read. Basically I’m taking back my freedom of choice!
So, like I said, I’m not going anywhere but I also won’t be around quite so much. I’m going to enjoy life and have some fun! =)
Today is my 21st birthday! Woo hoo!
BEA (Book Expo America) is coming up very soon (less than 3 weeks!) I am lucky enough to have the chance to go again this year and I want to make the most of it. If you are a blogger going to BEA and want to meet up at some point, please let me know! Leave a comment, email me, tweet me, anything. I want to meet as many fellow bloggers as I can while I’m there!
Also, if you have any questions about BEA feel free to ask me and I will try my best to answer them. I have been to BEA only once so I don’t claim to be an expert but I am more than happy to attempt to help out some first time BEA-goers.
So, are you going to BEA?
So I know this is not my normal post and it may seem like it has nothing to do with books but it totally does!
Superpoints is a reward site that I found out about from another blogger. I totally thought it was a spam site at first but after signing up and using it for two months I discovered that it was legitimate. If anyone uses Swagbucks you know what a rewards site is and this is just a similar site. Since I’m a college student I take any chance I get for extra money!
So how can you get points?
Well first, you get 30 spins on the Superlucky Button each day and you can earn points from that. You will also get random emails with points. Those are my two favorite methods but you can also earn points by taking surveys and watching videos, just like on Swagbucks. Also, if you recruit new members you get more spins on the Superlucky Button. You can get up to 100 a day!
What can you get with your points?
The rewards catalog has a ton of gift cards and electronic prizes that you can get. Gift cards range from Amazon to Home Depot to Starbucks. If you have an insane amount of points you can also get Apple products like iPads and MacBooks. There is even the option to get cash sent to your Paypal account. There is really something for everyone.
Why did I post this?
I want more people to be able to use this site. I know lots of bloggers order from Amazon and I also know that lots of bloggers don’t always have a ton of money to buy books. This has been a great way for me to get some extra money to spend on books and since it is an invite only site, it’s kind of hard to sign up.
Also, I just want to mention that since I signed up in December I have earned $100 to Amazon. =)
If you would like to sign up, just use this link! Also, I ask that you be over 16! Canada, UK, and some other countries are accepted but I don’t know which. The site will tell you whether or not your country is accepted!
