Giveaway: The Ring and the Crown by Melissa de la Cruz

Giveaway: The Ring and the Crown by Melissa de la CruzBuy on Amazon

Princess Marie-Victoria, heir to the Lily Throne, and Aelwyn Myrddn, bastard daughter of the Mage of England, grew up together. But who will rule, and who will serve?

Quiet and gentle, Marie has never lived up to the ambitions of her mother, Queen Eleanor the Second, Supreme Ruler of the Franco-British Empire. With the help of her Head Merlin, Emrys, Eleanor has maintained her stranglehold on the world's only source of magic. She rules the most powerful empire the world has ever seen.

But even with the aid of Emrys' magic, Eleanor's extended lifespan is nearing its end. The princess must marry and produce an heir or the Empire will be vulnerable to its greatest enemy, Prussia. The two kingdoms must unite to end the war, and the only solution is a match between Marie and Prince Leopold VII, heir to the Prussian throne. But Marie has always loved Gill, her childhood friend and soldier of the Queen's Guard.

Together, Marie and Aelwyn, a powerful magician in her own right, come up with a plan. Aelwyn will take on Marie's face, allowing the princess to escape with Gill and live the quiet life she's always wanted. And Aelwyn will get what she's always dreamed of--the chance to rule. But the court intrigue and hunger for power in Lenoran England run deeper than anyone could imagine. In the end, there is only rule that matters in Eleanor's court: trust no one.

An apology and a question!

So, if you guys didn’t notice, I kind of failed at blogging last year.  Not only that, I majorly failed at hosting the contemporary challenge.  I’m so sorry for that.  Life got in the way of blogging and I just couldn’t keep up.  My focus really had to be on other things for a little while.  Life has calmed down again and while I expect it to be a little crazy again once I’m back in school for the semester, I do finally have some time to read and blog.

My question for you guys is this: do you want me to attempt to host the contemporary challenge again?  Contemporary is my favorite genre and I truly believe that there should be a contemporary challenge.  I just don’t know if I’m the right person to host it.  If someone would like to cohost with me, that would be awesome.  Or if someone just wants to completely take it over, I wouldn’t necessarily be against that.  I just don’t think I can do it completely on my own.
Let me know what you guys think of this.  I hope all you contemporary readers still managed to complete the challenge last year and I hope you plan on reading lots of contemporary this year, even if there isn’t a challenge.

Temporary Hiatus!

I’m  sad to announce that I’m going to be taking a brief hiatus from blogging.  My computer crashed early last week and while I’m working on getting a new one, it’s going to take a little time.  I don’t know how long it’s going to take but I promise that I will be back as soon as I can.  I have a few things scheduled and all blog tour posts are ready to go but that’s about it.  I guess I’ll just work on getting some reading done and getting some reviews stocked up.

See you guys soon!

Some of you may have noticed that there is a new widget in the righthand sidebar.  That is so you can follow my blog with Bloglovin.  There is a very good chance that GFC is going to be going away sometime this year and so I would like to provide an alternative method of following.  The GFC widget will still be there if you choose to follow that way, this is just a precaution.

Oh and there are the usual RSS and email subscriptions if you prefer those methods!

Blog Advertising!

I know this is a little late but I wanted to mention that I now offer advertising through BlogAds!  I have been wanting to offer advertising space for authors, publishers, and bloggers for quite some time but I only recently decided to take the plunge.  BlogAds has turned out to be perfect for me and I look forward to featuring awesome bookish ads here on Katie’s Book Blog for the foreseeable future.

I also wanted to let you know that all proceeds from advertisements actually go back into the blog in some way or other.  I certainly don’t make a ton of money from advertisements but what I do make I spend on shipping costs, books for giveaways, blog design, and book conferences such as BEA/ALA where I can get new books to feature and find out about new bookish stuff to share with you guys.

If you are interested in purchasing a blog ad, you can click on any of the ad spaces in the sidebars where it says Buy A BlogAd!  My blog stats as well as prices are listed on the BlogAd page.   Prices range from $10 for a week advertisement to $20 for a week advertisement.

If you want to know more about blog advertising, feel free to comment or email me!

CSN Stores!

If you have been reading my blog for a while you know that I was given the chance to review an awesome bookshelf from CSN.  Recently I was contacted by them again for another review.  This time I am able to pick any product from one of their 200+ sites.  It’s crazy.  I don’t even know where to begin but I love browsing their sites.

One of of the things that I have been looking at are their computer desks.  As a blogger I spend a ton of time at my computer and right now my desk is pretty shabby.  It’s not very organized and doesn’t have much space.  I have been searching for the perfect desk for a while but I haven’t found anything that really appealed to me until now.  After looking through the selections from Simply Desks I think I may have found my dream desk.

Sadly, this one will not fit in my room.  It does have all the storage space I would need but I would have to remove at least one other piece of furniture from my room to fit this in.  Once we move into a house I might be able to get this but for now I will have to find something a bit smaller.

This is my second option and it will fit perfectly in my room.  It doesn’t have as much storage space as I would like but it’s better than what I have now.  I really do love the way it looks and it would be great for me but I haven’t quite made up my mind about what I might purchase.
As you can see, Simply Desks has every type of desk imaginable.  Their site is very easy to navigate and I’m pretty sure everyone can find at least one thing that they would love to have. Overall, all of CSN’s 200+ stores are wonderful and I love their company.  It’s one of the first sites I use now for any of my furniture needs.
Once again, if you have never before been to one of CSN’s many sites, check one out.  Also, check back soon to see which product I decided on.  It may be a desk but it may not.  It all just depends on what will fit in my room and what product I absolutely can’t live without.  =]
