Book: Bad Girls Don’t Die by Katie Alender
Rating: 5 Stars
Release Date: April 21
Summary:
Alexis thought she led a typically dysfunctional high school existence. Dysfunctional like her parents’ marriage; her doll-crazy twelve-year-old sister, Kasey; and even her own anti-social, anti-cheerleader attitude.
When a family fight results in some tearful sisterly bonding, Alexis realizes that her life is creeping from dysfunction into danger. Kasey is acting stranger than ever: her blue eyes go green sometimes; she uses old-fashioned language; and she even loses track of chunks of time, claiming to know nothing about her strange behavior. Their old house is changing, too. Doors open and close by themselves; water boils on the unlit stove; and an unplugged air conditioner turns the house cold enough to see their breath in.
Alexis wants to think that it’s all in her head, but soon, what she liked to think of as silly parlor tricks are becoming life-threatening–to her, her family, and to her budding relationship with the class president. Alexis knows she’s the only person who can stop Kasey — but what if that green-eyed girl isn’t even Kasey anymore?
Overall:
Alexis Warren is not your typical teenager and it’s not just her pink hair that sets her apart from the rest. Her little sister is being possessed by a demon that is out to get her.
Alexis has never fit in with the girls at her school but it never bothered her until recently. For some reason, she can’t seem to ignore the weird looks and shadowed glances thrown her way in the halls. And the girls aren’t the only ones she can’t seem to ignore.
Carter Blume, vice president of the class, won’t seem to go away no matter what Alexis says. But just maybe Alexis doesn’t really want him to go away. As things at home start to deteriorate, Carter seems to be the only good thing left for Alexis. That is, until Kasey starts targeting students.
With the help of her arch-enemy, Megan Wiley, and the paranormal section of the town library Alexis will have to stop Kasey before Kasey stops them, forever.
Bad Girls Don’t Die is Katie Alender’s debut novel. Full of mystery, the paranormal, and romance, this is the book for any teen girl looking for a fun read. I was amazed at how well written and detailed this book was, especially for a debut novel. I am definitely going to be on the lookout for more books from Katie Alender in the future!
