The Received:
Summary:
Oscar Banks has everything under control. In a town where his father brainwashes everyone, he’s found a way to secretly fight the subliminal Messages. He’s got them
all fooled: Oscar’s the top student and the best-behaved teen in town. Nobody knows he’s made his own Messages to deprogram his brain. Oscar has even found a way to
get rich. For a hefty price, he helps new kids escape Candor, Florida before they’re transformed into cookie-cutter teens. But then Nia Silva moves to Candor, and Oscar’s carefully-controlled world crumbles.
Summary:
In 2067, an airborne virus wiped out 97 percent of the male population. Thirty years later, women rule the world and have ushered in a new golden age on Earth. Poverty, crime, war, and hunger have all disappeared. Growing up in this utopia, fourteen-year-old Kellen Dent feels isolated as one of the few males alive.
When a rumored outbreak of the virus threatens Kellen’s outcast father, he knows that he must warn him of the coming danger. During his desperate race to find his dad, Kellen uncovers a secret so frightening that his life and the future of the world will never be the same.
Summary:
Andrew Zansky is a seriously overweight teenager who doesn’t fit: in his pants (size 48), in his family (parents are divorced), or in school (a too-small desk, a too-beautiful girl). If only his mom weren’t a caterer. If only his parents were back together. If only he were thin–Andy imagines his life would be completely different. But she is, they’re not, and he isn’t. What to do? Discover a hidden talent for football, of course.
Summary:
Sara Black might as well be wearing a scarlet letter on her school uniform when she walks into Anton High for the first time. Anton is no ordinary public school–you can’t even get in after freshman year (unless, like Sara, your dad is the janitor). But when nobody knows your past, you can become a whole new person.
For Sara, being new is the perfect escape from everything she’s avoiding–like the fact that her mother has run off with her science teacher, and that her father’s OCD is only barely under control. People even think she’s from London, England, instead of Lundon, Massachusetts. But when one of the most popular girls at Anton starts looking into Sara’s past, her little lies could come back to haunt her.
Summary:
For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf–her wolf–is a chilling presence she can’t seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human . . . until the cold makes him shift back again.
Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It’s her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human–or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.
Summary:
A prodigal son
A dangerous love
A deadly secret . . .
I stood back and watched his movements. Daniel had that way about him that could shut me down in an instant. . . . I kicked the gravel a couple of times and worked up my courage again. “Tell me . . . I mean . . . why did you come back? Why now, after all this time?”
Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared—the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in blood. But she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night really held. And when Daniel returns three years later, Grace can no longer deny her attraction to him, despite promising Jude she’ll stay away.
As Grace gets closer to Daniel, her actions stir the ancient evil Daniel unleashed that horrific night. Grace must discover the truth behind Jude and Daniel’s dark secret . . . and the cure that can save the ones she loves. But she may have to lay down the ultimate sacrifice to do it—her soul.
Summary:

The Bought:
The Giver by Lois Lowry
The Secrets of Boys by Hailey Abbott
So, this week I got a lovely package from Egmont publishing which is where I got all of the books except Shiver. I got my first 2010 books, too. Brightly Woven, The Cinderella Society, and Epitaph Road are all going to be released in either March or April of next year and they all sound great. I pretty much squealed when I saw all the books. The Dark Divine, Candor, and Little Black Lies were ones that I had been wanting to read so badly.
Also, I managed to restrain myself this week and only bought two books but those were from Goodwill so they don’t count. =] I’m trying really hard not to buy books but I just can’t seem to help myself. Also, my parents were amazing and bought me an Ipod Touch this week. I just got it last night and I love it. I will never by an mp3 player that is not an Ipod. I just love them.
So, how were everyone else’s weeks?
Okay, I am jealous. Did you raid Egmont USA or something? (I’m pretty sure a lot of these are from there…but not sure lol)
