Summary:
When Carlos Fuentes returns to America after living in Mexico for a year, he doesn’t want any part of the life his older brother, Alex, has laid out for him at a high school in Colorado . Carlos likes living his life on the edge and wants to carve his own path—just like Alex did. Then he meets Kiara Westford. She doesn’t talk much and is completely intimidated by Carlos’ wild ways. As they get to know one another, Carlos assumes Kiara thinks she’s too good for him, and refuses to admit that she might be getting to him. But he soon realizes that being himself is exactly what Kiara needs right now.
*****
I loved Rules Of Attraction.  I was a little disappointed with Perfect Chemistry so I wasn’t expecting much with this one.  I was wrong.  Simone Elkeles did a fantastic job with the second book in the Perfect Chemistry trilogy.
Carlos and Kiara were so great.  In my opinion, their relationship was better than Brittany and Alex’s.  Theirs just seemed so much more real.  Carlos was cocky and a huge smart-ass but he cracked me up.  I felt more of a connection to him than I expected.  The same goes with Kiara.  She had flaws but she tried her hardest to overcome them.  And it was good to read about Brittany and Alex again.
The plot of Rules Of Attraction wasn’t as fast-paced as Perfect Chemistry but I still tore through the book.  There wasn’t as much gang activity or fighting which I actually preferred.  I liked reading more about the everyday life without the gangs.
Overall, Rules Of Attraction was awesome.  If you haven’t read the first book, Perfect Chemistry, I recommend it but it’s in no way necessary.  If you like the sounds of this one, give it a shot.  I thoroughly enjoyed it!
First line:  I want to live life on my own terms.
