Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris--until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all...including a serious girlfriend.

But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss?

Anna and the French Kiss is one of those books that is surrounded by a lot of hype.  Normally it is hard for a book to live up to that hype. That was so not the case with this book.  I adored it!

For once, the characters weren’t my absolute favorite part of the book.  Don’t get me wrong, they were great but the setting was what really got me.  Anna and the French Kiss takes place in Paris and I am now dying to go there (even more than before.)  The descriptions were so rich and vivid.  Stephanie Perkins made Paris come alive and it was glorious.  The Pantheon, Notre Dame, the School of America in Paris.  Field trip, anyone?

Now like I said before, the characters were awesome.  Anna was a bit scared and insecure at first but she became confident and independent throughout the book.  Then there were her friends, Meredith, Josh, Rashmi, and Etienne St.Clair.  Oh gosh, St.Clair!  Swoon!  He definitely stole the show.  He was so sweet and romantic and he had a British accent.  Can I have him, please?  Josh was pretty comical and he and Rashmi together were hilarious. Meredith was okay but I would have liked to see more of a personality from her.

Overall, Anna and the French Kiss is fabulous.  If you haven’t already read it, do it now!  I can’t believe I waited so long!

  1. I heard lots of good things about this book. I’m just a little hestitate about it because it’s not something I usually read, but I think I might look into it 🙂
    Great review!

  2. I loved this book! Like you, I really liked the characters, but more than anything, I walked away wanting to go to Paris!

    Great review!

  3. So glad you loved this book. I’ve been hearing all the crazy hype for this book as well and picked it up from the library today.

I wasn’t even looking for it, though I’ve been wanting to read it. But I saw the eifell tower on the spine and freaked and grabbed it, ha-ha!

Great review! Definitely need to try and read it next. Been wanting to read a contemporary. Been reading A LOT of fantasy lately and so most of the books I got from the library this time was contemps.

  4. Everyone I gave this book to borrow has absolutely loved it! It’s those chocolate kind of books, you know? You just can’t get enough 😛 Haha. You’re right, the setting made me fall in love…but for me, both setting and characters made this book so much! It’s probably going to be one of my all time favourites! 😀

  5. I LOVED the characters in this book! Yes, the setting rocked, but it’s the characters that got me hooked. It’s too bad they didn’t wow you as much. I love how there’s cheating in this, but there are reasons for it.

Love the friendships in this one, and the love that comes from friendship.

    Lovely review 🙂
