This past Friday I was lucky enough to attend the Highlands Ranch tour stop for the Dark Days of Supernatural. Sadly I was late to the event so I missed a lot of the authors talking about their books but I did get to catch the tail end of it and I was happy about that.
I got to the event and the authors were taking questions from the audience. This particular picture was taken while Kiersten White was explaining how true love feels and talking about how hot her husband is. Claudia Gray is the one on the end laughing. I love this picture because of that.
I also got the chance to hear the authors talk about how they feel about darkness in YA literature. I think that was my favorite part of the signing. They all pretty much agreed that it is something that can’t be avoided but that should rather be faced head on. They explained that teenagers are going to find out about bad things no matter what. Why avoid the subjects in books when they will be approached in TV, movies, and music? I couldn’t agree with them more.
Then came the actual signing and the line was insane. I decided to wait until the end so I could get a picture and because I had quite a few books to get signed. My favorite reaction was when Claudia Gray saw my copy of Balthazar and signed it saying that I was the first person to get one signed. It made me feel very special. I also love that Kiersten White signed my copy of Supernaturally “To Katie, who is bleeping awesome!” Very original. =)
I was also lucky enough to get the chance to talk to a few other authors that were in the audience at the signing as well as another book blogger, Courtney! In the picture (back row from left to right) are Claudia Gray, Emily Hainsworth, Eleanor Brown, Sarah Ockler, ME, Courtney, (front row left to right) Brenna Yovanoff, Jocelyn Davies, and Kiersten White!

All in all it was a great night and I really hope HarperTeen decides to send more of their authors to Colorado in the future.

Great to meet you, Katie! I’m sure we’ll run into each other again soon. 🙂
That’s so awesome that you got to go after all :] I can’t wait until I live in Seattle and can actually go to all the cool events.
Kiersten White needs to write more romance if she’s living one 😉
LOVE these photos!! The one with Claudia laughing is awesome!
Thank you for this post 🙂
