Waiting, Wanting, Wishing is a feature here on Katie’s Book Blog. There are so many books out there that I want to read and this is a good way to spotlight some of them.
This week’s theme is sequels!
Title: Days Of Blood And Starlight (Daughter Of Smoke & Bone #2)
Author: Laini Taylor
Release date: November 6, 2012
In this stunning sequel to the highly acclaimed “Daughter of Smoke and Bone,” Karou must come to terms with who and what she is, and how far she’ll go to avenge her people. Filled with heartbreak and beauty, mysteries and secrets, new characters and old favorites, Days of Blood and Starlight brings the richness, color and intensity of the first book to a brand new canvas.
Varen Nethers is trapped in a perilous dream world — a treacherous and desolate realm where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life. Isobel Lanley, plagued by strange visions and haunted by the nightmares of Varen’s creation, is the only one who can save him.
Isobel knows that her only hope lies within a Baltimore cemetery. There, in the early morning hours of Edgar Allan Poe’s birthday, a mysterious stranger known as the “Poe Toaster” will make his annual homage at the legendary poet’s grave.
Only the Poe Toaster holds the key to the way between worlds. But even greater dangers lie ahead for Isobel. An ancient evil, draped in veils of white, is watching, challenging her for Varen’s affections. When Isobel finally finds Varen, he is no longer the quiet and brooding boy who once captivated her, but a dark force, powerful and malevolent.
Title: Outpost (Razorland #2)
Author: Ann Aguirre
Release date: September 4, 2012
Deuce’s whole world has changed. Down below, she was considered an adult. Now, topside in a town called Salvation, she’s a brat in need of training in the eyes of the townsfolk. She doesn’t fit in with the other girls: Deuce only knows how to fight.
To make matters worse, her Hunter partner, Fade, keeps Deuce at a distance. Her feelings for Fade haven’t changed, but he seems not to want her around anymore. Confused and lonely, she starts looking for a way out.
Deuce signs up to serve in the summer patrols—those who make sure the planters can work the fields without danger. It should be routine, but things have been changing on the surface, just as they did below ground. The Freaks have grown smarter. They’re watching. Waiting. Planning. The monsters don’t intend to let Salvation survive, and it may take a girl like Deuce to turn back the tide.
The Tonton have been defeated. Lugh has been rescued.
The heartstone has brought Saba and Jack together.
Now, Saba and her family head west to meet him and start a new life. All should be well.
But shadows of the dead are stalking Saba.
And another kind of shadow is creeping over the dustlands.
Then a messenger shows up.
With news of Jack.

What books are you waiting, wanting, wishing for this week?
I read the very short preview of Blood and Starlight that was in the paperback edition of Smoke and Bone and all I can say is: askjekqrtng. November can’t come soon enough!
I’m also waiting, wanting, wishing for Rebel Heart. I absolutely loved Blood Red Road.

Ahh! So much yes! I haven’t read Enclave or The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, but I read and adored Daughter of Smoke & Bone, Nevermore, and Blood Red Road, and I’m crazy excited for the sequels. Cannot wait for them to release.
Oh yes, I can’t wait for Days of Blood and Starlight! And that cover is STUNNING!
I really want to get started on the Mara Dyer series before the sequel comes out.
Awesome picks!
ooh I can’t wait for the evolution of mara dyer!!

I cannot wait for Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
OMG, the covers of Mara Dyer #2 and Days of Blood and Starlight are so good!!. I can”t wait for The evolution of mara dyer 🙂
I absolutely am dying for The Days of Blood and Starlight! Just yesterday I posted my review of Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I was completely blown away by the way that Taylor wrote, as well as the special way that she incorporated the past into the present. Plus, Akiva is enough to keep any girl reading. 😉 I think I may die as I wait for this book to come out.
I’m also dying for The Evolution of Mara Dyer. I reviewed that book as well. It also got 5 stars from me. As much as I enjoyed it, I feel like there’s no way to truly understand Mara and Noah unless you read the second book. The first left you with a lot of questions and you didn’t fully understand why Mara is capable of what she is doing and what exactly she is. I am expecting this second book to explain all that!
Great choices (:
Haven’t read anything by Kelly Crea, but I love that she’s doing a different take on Poe. Lots of people love the series and can’t wait until the next sequel. Have you read them? Did you like them ?
