Waiting, Wanting, Wishing is a feature here on Katie’s Book Blog. There are so many books out there that I want to read and this is a good way to spotlight some of them.
This week I am spotlighting some 2013 contemporary books that I am dying to read!
Title: Nobody But Us
Author: Kristin Halbrook
Release date: January 29, 2013
Bonnie and Clyde meets Simone Elkeles in this addictively heart-wrenching story of two desperate teenagers on the run from their pasts.
They’re young. They’re in love. They’re on the run.
Zoe wants to save Will as much as Will wants to save Zoe. When Will turns eighteen, they decide to run away together. But they never expected their escape to be so fraught with danger….
When the whole world is after you, sometimes it seems like you can’t run fast enough.
Don’t mess with a girl with a Great Personality.
Everybody loves Lexi. She’s popular, smart, funny…but she’s never been one of those girls, the pretty ones who get all the attention from guys. And on top of that, her seven-year-old sister, Mackenzie, is a terror in a tiara, and part of a pageant scene where she gets praised for her beauty (with the help of fake hair and tons of makeup).
Lexi’s sick of it. She’s sick of being the girl who hears about kisses instead of getting them. She’s sick of being ignored by her longtime crush, Logan. She’s sick of being taken for granted by her pageant-obsessed mom. And she’s sick of having all her family’s money wasted on a phony pursuit of perfection.
The time has come for Lexi to step out from the sidelines. Girls without great personalities aren’t going to know what hit them. Because Lexi’s going to play the beauty game – and she’s in it to win it.
Title: Right Of Way
Author: Lauren Barnholdt
Release date: June 9, 2013
The road to heartbreak takes a lot of turns.
Here are Peyton and Jace, meeting on vacation. Click! It’s awesome, it’s easy, it’s romantic. This is the real deal.
Unless it isn’t.
Because when you’re in love, you don’t just stop calling one day. And you don’t keep secrets. Or lie. And when your life starts falling apart, you’re supposed to have the other person to lean on.
Here are Peyton and Jace again, broken up but thrown together on a road trip. One of them is lying about the destination. One of them is pretending not to be leaving something behind.
Neither of them is prepared for what’s coming on the road ahead…
Lucy Beck-Moreau once had a promising future as a concert pianist. The right people knew her name, her performances were booked months in advance, and her future seemed certain.
That was all before she turned fourteen.
Now, at sixteen, it’s over. A death, and a betrayal, led her to walk away. That leaves her talented ten-year-old brother, Gus, to shoulder the full weight of the Beck-Moreau family expectations. Then Gus gets a new piano teacher who is young, kind, and interested in helping Lucy rekindle her love of piano — on her own terms. But when you’re used to performing for sold-out audiences and world-famous critics, can you ever learn to play just for yourself?

I found it to be very helpful- It taught me how to get that color box around my text! 🙂
I think I want to read all of these as well but especially the Eulberg-she’s one of my fave YA contemp writers and I’m interested to see how she handles this one.
Great picks:) I don’t know how I’m possibly going to wait for Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality and The Lucy Varitations! Both of those authors are wonderful.
Nobody but Us & Things I Can’t Forget are two books that I seem interested in reading. Amazing post!

I’m super excited for Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality! Love Elizabeth’s writing 🙂
Revenge of the Girl With the Great Personality sounds fabulous and I’m psyched for the Lucy Variations. Sara Zarr is amazing and it’s going to be fantastic.
Great picks! I think I’m most excited about The Lucy Variations because it’s a girl and a piano … I’m a piano player, so I loooove the piano! Cannot wait for that one!
Things I Can’t Forget is pretty much on top of my 2013 NEEDWANT list. I hadn’t heard about Right of Way before but it sounds awesome!:)

These all look really great. I am a big contemporary fan. Nobody But Us, Revenge Of The Girl With The Great Personality, and The Lucy Variations have been my WoW picks the last few Wednesdays! I haven’t read Catching Jordan or Stealing Parker yet. Maybe I can get to them before Things I Can’t Forget comes out.
2013 is going to be an awesome year!
Too bad you didn’t love Nobody But Us!
