First Line Friday is a feature created by me, where I post five first lines from some books that I have on my TBR pile. You guys then get to vote, based on the first lines, for the book that I will read next! =)
Title: Vesper (Vesper #1)
Author: Jeff Sampson
Release date: January 25, 2011
I was halfway out my bedroom window when my cell rang.
You wait forever to get to high school.
Title: The Replacement
Author: Brenna Yovanoff
Release date: September 21, 2010
I don’t remember any of the true, important parts, but there’s this dream I have.
It is the first day of November and so, today, someone will die.
Title: Sisters Red
Author: Jackson Pearce
Release date: June 7, 2010
Strangers never walk down this road, the sisters thought in unison as the man trudged toward them.
So based on these first lines, which book should I read next?
The Scorpio Races! It’s really good and original!
The Scorpio Races has a great first line – but I’m going to use the knowledge I have a few of these to push or not-push ones anyway. 😛 Vesper actually turned out to be a fun, engaging, and different read for me – I really was surprised by it. Sisters Red, however, is basically one giant do-nothing book that says “THIS IS MY THEME” with not enough nuance to pull it off.
Wow, The Scorpio Races has an amazing opening line! Would be hard to look past that one if i were you 🙂 By the way, i love this feature. Short, simple, to the point. Nice!
The Scorpio Races! It definitely has the most compelling line, in my opinion.
Vesper! She just got BUSTED! What just happened? And what WILL…? -S
The Scorpio Races, sounds great just by that first line. By the way, I love your blog! 😀
The Scorpio Races! Very attention-grabbing first line.
The Scorpio Races! yesyesyes. No question about it!
Wow, that first line of Scorpio Races is pretty phenomenal!
OMG I can’t decide between Scorpio Races and The Replacement. *flips coin*
Errrrrmmm… Replacement!
In terms of first line, The Scorpio Races. I haven’t actually read any of these books, so I don’t really have bias. This is a GREAT idea to let other people pick your next read. I like it!
Vesper sounds interesting!
The Scorpio Races! It’s such an amazingly well-written book! And that first line fits so well with the story
The Scorpio Races! It is just beautifully written, if a little slow paced:)
The Scorpio Races!
Definitely The Scorpio Races! I haven’t read it yet but that is definitely one awesome way to start a book 😉

What a great meme!
My vote would have to be for The Scorpio Races. I really want to read that one.
My vote is the Scorpio Races. I have read the replacement and I didnt like it very much.
I’m, uh, totally not biased when I say go with The Scorpio Races. Not at all. *cough*

Sister’s Red!!! I really want to read that one….
Scorpio Races!
The Scorpio Races! Holy cow!
Sister’s Red!! I really liked it!
The Scorpio Races!… OR Sisters Red 🙂
The Scorpio Races or Sisters Red!
I LOVED Sisters Red! I didn’t like The replacement.. I’ve been hearing great things about The scorpio Races 🙂 So either that one or Sisters red.
I’m probably too late on this (and outvoted) but I read the Scorpio Races and really liked it. I didn’t read The Sisters Red, though, and would love to see a review on it so I’d vote for that.
I love the line for SISTERS RED. That would be my choice.
The Scorpio Races definitely has the best first line.
Sisters Red was awesome! Did you ever read it?
