Top Ten Tuesday Rewind: Books I Feel Like Everyone (But Me) Has Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. For more information and a list of past and future topics, go here.

I’m basing these on other bloggers, not really other readers.

1. A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly – I found out about this book shortly after I started blogging and I really wanted to read it.  I bought a copy immediately and it has sat on my shelf since then.  Pretty much every blogger who has read this book really loved it but I just haven’t had the chance to pick it up yet.

2. Evernight by Claudia Gray – Evernight is another book I went out and bought immediately but never read. I lost steam for vampire books shortly after I got it and since then I just haven’t had the urge to pick it up even though I know it’s gotten great reviews.

3. The Host by Stephenie Meyer – Yes, I’ve read Twilight but no, I have not read The Host.  I think I might actually like The Host more than I liked Twilight but at the time I got this book I was so over Stephenie Meyer.

4. Unwind by Neal Shusterman – I’ve heard so many good things about this book and I’ve been really excited to read it ever since I first heard about it.  However, once again, I have no time.

5. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green – Please don’t hate me but no I have not read The Fault In Our Stars.  I’m actually a little afraid to read this one.  I mean, what if I hate it?  Then I might be shunned.  =P

6.Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout – I love Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Covenant series and I also really liked Cursed but I haven’t had the urge to pick up Obsidian.  I’m not really into aliens and so I’m worried that I won’t like this one.  However, pretty much everyone else seems to love it.

7. The Maze Runner by James Dashner – I know so many people who have read this book!  Sure, not all of them like it but at least they’ve read it.  I cannot say the same, even though I’ve had the book on my shelf since it first came out.

8. Legend by Marie Lu – I first heard about this one months before it came out and I was so excited to read it.  I got an ARC and everything.  Sadly, that ARC is still sitting on my shelf unread even though pretty much everyone I know has read and loved this one.

9. Halo by Alexandra Adornetto – I found out about Halo when I was going through a huge angel phase.  i loved anything to do with angels.  Sadly I lost interest right about the time I actually got a copy of this book.  I know it hasn’t gotten the best reviews but it seems like everyone has at least given it a shot!

10. Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini – I’m seriously hoping to remedy the fact that I haven’t read this one very soon.  I’m a huge fan of mythology and I’ve heard amazing things about this one.

What are some books that everyone has read but you?

  1. Starcrossed is so good. It’s not uber original – it has Twilight elements – but, like Amy Plum’s Die For Me, it manages to be something SO fun and SO…more than you expect. I just read the sequel and loved it. Also – you’d love Evernight and A Northern Light, I think.

Count me as another that hasn’t read Fault, Maze Runner, Legend, Obsidian, and The Host. Some I’m interested in or own. Others, not so much.

  2. Oooh, please read The Host! It started off a little slow, but then I got REALLY into it and I have loved it even more on rereads. My hardcover is pretty much falling apart from all the love, haha. I hope you love it when you get to it!

  3. Katie, you have to read the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout..you will not regret it. I love this series, I think even more than the covenant series of hers. Don’t worry about the alien thing, its more of a love story anyway with lots of steamy scenes =] You will love Daemon, I know I do. Cant wait for book 3! Come on December =]

  4. I’ve read A Northern Light, The Host, Unwind, and The Fault in Our Stars, and all of them are as good as everyone says they are.

And about The Host… it really is much better than Twilight. And I agree with a previous commenter who said it started out slow but got better.

As far as the others, I haven’t read them so you’re not alone!

  5. I have yet to read A Northern Light, Starcrossed, The Maze Runner, The Host, or Evernight so I’m glad I’m not alone! Some of these are books are very hyped and I don’t want to be disappointed by them!

  6. You haven’t read The Fault in Our Stars?? AAH you have to, immediately! I promise you won’t be shunned if you don’t like it, because not liking it is impossible. You WILL be shunned for not reading it, though.

  7. I actually didn’t care for the Host that much. I think I was hoping for a lot more!
I really loved The Maze Runner, but I was kind of disappointed with the last book!
And I read The Fault In Our Stars….. And I didn’t like a lot of things about it. I was afraid I was going to be shunned! But people didn’t have too many mean things to say 😛

  8. I have to say that I’ve read TFioS and wasn’t a fan. I know it seems like everyone loved it, but when I admitted I didn’t, I even found a few others who felt the same. So don’t not read it for fear of being shunned. Plus, you might love it!
I was nervous too about the alien thing in Obsidian, but it’s not really like that. It’s much more about the attraction and relationship between Katy and Daemon than anything else. I really enjoyed it.
Of the others I’ve read I’d say skip The Maze Runner (yep, I’m one of those) and read Legend. 🙂
    Great list!

  9. For what it’s worth, Legend is the only book on your list that I have read. All the others? Nope. In fact, I haven’t even heard of some of them. How sad is that?

  10. I really need to read Unwind and The Maze Runner as well!! I actually have a copy of Unwind but I’ve just… never read it. But The Fault in Ours Stars is AMAZING! I was a bit hesitant to read it at first, but was pleasantly surprised 🙂

  11. I haven’t read Unwind either! I have a friend who has been bugging me for 2 years now to read it and I still haven’t. But DEFINITELY read The Fault in our Stars. You shall not be shunned! 🙂

  12. Definitely pick up Obsidian! I was wary of the alien thing at first, but you will pick it up fast and fall in love with all the characters! I definitely recommend it! 🙂

  13. I have to say this first–OBSIDIAN. I was cautious about it, too, but trust me, the alien thing does NOT bring down the book at all. That series is just a big huge ball of amazing. Other than that, I’ve only read Evernight, The Maze Runner, and Halo. The first two in that were good, but Halo…um. Yeah. I have Unwind checked out from the library right now, but I need to find time to read it. Grrr.

I haven’t read any of the other books, either, though I kind of want to, just to see what all the talk is about, you know?

    ♥Jessica(:

  14. The Host is a wonderful book. I cried so much throughout much of it and laughed too and rooted for all the characters. It ends well 🙂 I think it’s her best book EVER and I hope she continues writing more in the series. The love triangle is one you’ll love.
