Today on Totally Booksessed I posted a video about balancing blogging and real life. I don’t normally post these videos on here but I thought this one might come in handy to some of you. =)
This is great advice! I have always admired you for being able to post every single day and be a college student at the same time. Haha, I agree about co-blogging and never being able to do it:) My best tip for balancing school, work, social things, and blogging is stocking up on reviews during a time when you are able to read more-like summer break, maybe. I also found getting a head start on reviews before I even started my blog to be helpful; I barely used any of them because they were sort of terrible, but they gave me some practice and a few I could post. It’s so sad when wonderful bloggers go on hiatus or stop posting frequently because of school, so I hope your suggestions can help some people.
I love your tips!!! I’ve very recently started a ya book bog VERY recently. And I am pretty overwhelmed because its hard getting a blog started. But I’ll keep trying until I get good at it. Anyway, I don’t know much yet, but maybe blogging 7 days a week might be stressing you out a bit. It might be less stressful to post a long post on Sat and then focus on school and not blog on Sunday. Or even to take one day off every month, and that can be your day to just relax. Thanks for the tips.
LOVE this video! I’m terrible at scheduling posts so I’m always scrambling at the last minute trying to get something done and it’s such a pain in the butt. I just got a friend of mine to start reviewing books that I don’t really find appealing so that way I can have more choices for my readers if they don’t want to read my normally *dark* reviews.
I love your comment tip. I do comment on other blogs but not as often as I should. I’m going to try to start commenting more and see if that helps a bit. I’ve been on a new fan slump lately so that might just do the trick. Thanks for the awesome video! 😀
Your tips are very helpful! Note to self: comment more on other people’s blogs.
Even though I’m new, I sometimes hit a block in life where I just can’t keep blogging for a certain period of time. Personally, I myself can’t do a post a day, but I’d probably have a few up a week. When things really get overwhelming, I don’t want to completely stop blogging, mainly because I’m afraid that once I stop I’ll never go back to it, which’d really suck.
Usually, I just throw up a post explaining that I won’t be blogging as often, and why (school, work, family etc.) Since I don’t get a whole ton of traffic, I don’t really know if that makes a difference, but I just like letting my readers know ahead of time.
I’ve thought about co-blogging with a sister, but like you, I like being in charge way too much. c:
Great tips. Like Grace here I need to work on creating time to comment more in great posts which I read and close.
I started planning things ahead. So I know what is ready and done and what I need time on still. I am joining in on some weekly things which I sometimes do not feel like doing but cannot always be planned ahead so I sometimes skip them when I really do not feel like it. I was scared of doing that at first but decided it was better for me.
I totally understand your comment about being in control.
Good luck with continuing to combine it all. Specially the job and school can be hard. I admire you still manage to find time to read and blog about it too.
Great advice! And you are so right even taking just a few days off from blogging daily makes a huge difference. Of course it’s tough to come back.
And I totally agree with the mix of review books and books you love. I was so burnt out by reading only books I was “supposed” to read. I just said “no” for awhile, read books I wanted to read and fell back in love with reading. So much so that I don’t accept too many books for review anymore.
I would love to know how you can get everything done in such a short amount of scheduled time. For some reason posts just take me forever and I can barely get one post done in two hours, let alone a week’s worth of posts.
Great advice – funny that we both posted about balance on the same day. I linked up to your vlog in my post.
I’ll be trying your advice of scheduling a set time to get a bunch of posts pre-written. 🙂 And I agree with the read what you want and keep your joy of reading. I’ve been getting burnt out too.
Love the video. Great tips. I’m a mom so blogging is just a hobby for me too.

Really great tips and they apply to everything in life, not just blogging, but all hobbies and interests.
Love what you said about doing what you can to prepare things in advance.
