Blogger Interview: Christina from Book Tasty!

Today I have the lovely Christina from Book Tasty here on the blog for an interview!
What are you like outside of blogging?
Well I’m a middle school Media Specialist which implies that I have a little crazy inside of me! I love to laugh, and can be pretty sarcastic but despise any kind of fakeness in people. I like to think I’m a loyal friend (I hope so at least) and I love nothing more than to spend time with my husband. I talk a lot and am trying to get better at listening: sometimes this makes people laugh sometimes this gets me in trouble. 🙂
What made you decide to start your blog?
In college I had to start a blog as an assignment and I continued it as a personal blog for a number of years. About three years ago, my husband and I were dealing with some intense family issues and I knew I couldn’t honestly share about my life during this time online with tons of strangers. I realized I needed some sort of emotional outlet so I decided to combine my book love with blogging. Additionally I had just started my job as Media Specialist and loved connecting people with books they end up loving, so I knew I wanted to do this with my friends and their kids as well. I never expected that people other than my close friends would read my blog!
What is your best book blogging moment?
Honestly? It is really when I find out that someone read a book, and loved it, because I recommended the title to them or they read my review. This seriously makes me incredibly happy!
To help some of the newer bloggers: what have you found to be the best way to network and get your blog out there?
Twitter! Seriously, I didn’t know very many other book bloggers until I created a twitter account. I have met so many friendly book bloggers through Twitter who encourage me, share my love for reading, and are just fun people to chat with. I also love Twitter because it allows me to promote my blog posts quickly. I definitely recommend getting set up on Twitter if a newer blogger isn’t already. You’ll notice the difference.
What book turned you on to YA?
I actually don’t remember! Maybe The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot or Princess Academy by Shannon Hale, which are actually both middle grades books, not YA.
How many books do you own?
My husband just graduated from seminary a year ago so most of the books we own are the huge amounts of theology books one attains while in school. I usually just get my books from the library, but I’d say that I actually own around fifty books (at least). I would LOVE to buy more for myself but we literally don’t have the space to store them all!
What are some blogs you recommend reading?
Some of my favorite book blogs are A Reader’s Pensieve, A Book and A Latte, Ex Libris, and I’m totally not sucking up…but Katie’s Book Blog. I’ve been reading your reviews for a long time, I feel super humbled that you asked me for an interview!!
Non book blogs? As an avid royal watcher I totally adore What Kate Wore! It details all the outfits Duchess Kate wears at public appearances and focuses on how awesome she is!
Favorites:
-Book of all time: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen! Hands down my favorite book of all time. It’s just so amazing!
-New release: Anything by Ally Carter, Shannon Hale, Jessica Day George, Stephanie Perkins or Sarah Dessen
-Genre: fairy tale remakes, dystopian, sci-fi/fantasy, historical fiction…pretty much a little bit of everything as long as it’s YA or Middle Grades
-Place to Read: On my couch in my pajamas. Love it so much, but now that the school year is in full swing I don’t get as much time here as I’d like! Also, I listen to a ton of audiobooks so I’d have to list in my car and while running as well!
-TV show: Oh so many! Dawson’s Creek, My So-Called Life, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, Castle, Arrested Development, Seinfeld, Midsomer Murders and Golden Girls. I’m pretty bad at listing one favorite, I can never pick just one of anything!
-Candy: Orange Slices, Laffy Taffy, Twizzlers, chocolate covered gummy bears, Milky Way bars, and peanut butter M&Ms! I have a bit of a sweet tooth!
-Song: Viva La Vida by Coldplay, Don’t Go Breaking my Heart by Elton John, Tonight by New Kids on the Block, Let’s Stay Together by Al Green…so many to choose from!

  1. Dawson’s is one of my favorite shows too!!

Her go-to authors are my favorites as well, it’s like they can’t write a bad story. It’s their trademark to write gripping stories with wonderful characters.

    Lovely interview 🙂
