Short Story: Wee Willie Winkie
Author: Leigh Fallon
Anthology: Two And Twenty Dark Tales
Summary: Wee Willie Winkie is a dark retelling of the Mother Goose Rhyme of the same name.
My thoughts: Wee Willie Winkie is one of the scarier stories in this collection. It’s not your typical creepy story but it has a very haunting feel to it. The setting, the characters, and the writing all give it that spooky air. However, while I enjoyed the creepiness of it, I felt that it was a tad to short for me to truly love it. I would have liked just a bit more to the story.
Overall, Wee Willie Winkie is one of the better short stories in this collection. I will definitely be checking out more of Leigh Fallon’s work in the future.
This is why I resist picking up short stories- they’re so good, they end too fast!
But I really want to pick this up because it sounds amazing!
Thanks for sharing. =)
I really liked the creepiness of this story. It was something I missed in some of the other short stories.

It’s a creepy rhyme to begin with I think. Looking forward to this one.
I can’t wait to pick this book up. To me nursery rhymes have always had that creepy air about them.
I’ve never heard of this one, but if it’s creepy I’ll enjoy it.
It seems like all the short stories in this collection were too short. Too bad! This one seemed perfect for a longer retelling.
Love your review! 🙂
