Movie/TV news:
You know that awesome trilogy of contemporary young adult books by Jenny Han, the Summer trilogy? Well, it’s been optioned for a TV show! According to Hypable, Lionsgate TV has optioned the trilogy. It looks like Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah could be coming to the small screen!
There has been a lot of casting news for The Book Thief movie lately. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Geoffrey Rush, Emily Watson, Sophie Nelisse, Ben Schnetzer, and Nico Liersch are all set to star in the film adaptation.
Lauren Kate’s Fallen series is one step closer to the big screen! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fallen might just have a director sometime soon. Australian filmmaker Scott Hicks is in final negotiations. It’s about time this series made it to the big screen!
Not only does Julie Kagawa have a new series coming out, that same series has already been picked up by Universal with Chris Morgan set to produce. The series is untitled as of right now but The Hollywood Reporter has more details about it.
The Maze Runner movie has a release date! And it’s the same day as another major YA movie. February 14, 2014 is going to be heaven for book lovers. Vampire Academy and The Maze Runner? I won’t be leaving the theater at all that day! Head over to Hit Fix for all the details.
The Madman’s Daughter is coming to the big screen. Fake Empire has optioned The Madman’s Daughter and it looks like things are progressing. Head over to Entertainment Weekly for an interview with Megan Shepherd and get some of your questions answered.
It was recently announced that Lauren Oliver’s Delirium trilogy was being made into a TV show and we now have our Lena! According to Entertainment Weekly, Emma Roberts (Julia Robert’s niece) has been cast as Lena. Also, according to Digital Spy, Corey Reynolds has joined Emma Roberts in the cast. He will be playing Lawrence Task.
Publishing news:
As mentioned above, Julie Kagawa has a new series coming out! It’s not set to be published until 2015 but it has to be good if it’s already been optioned for a movie. Head over to Examiner for more info!
Colleen Houck’s Tiger’s Curse series is coming to a close this year but she’s already hard at work on her next series. The as yet untitled series will take place in Egypt and will hit shelves Spring 2015. Head over to RT Book Reviews for more info!
Lauren DeStefano’s Chemical Garden trilogy just came to a close with the release of Sever on February 12. Don’t worry though, Lauren also just announced her next series! Lauren DeStefano’s new utopian series is called The Internment Chronicles and starts off with Perfect Ruin, set to be released in Spring 2014. Head over to USA Today for all the details.
Veronica Roth is probably having a blast teasing readers right now. We still don’t have a title or a cover but we do have a release date for the third Divergent book. You guys might want to ask off the day of October 22 because I doubt anyone will be getting any work/school done. Head over to Veronica’s blog to congratulate her and beg for more details!
Andrea Cremer has made fans of the Nightshade trilogy very happy this past week. It seems that the Nightshade series is not quite over. Snakeroot, set to be published this December, is the first in a new trilogy following Adne, set shortly after Bloodrose. Head over to Bookish for all the details, including the wonderful cover.
Speaking of Bookish, have you heard of it? It’s a new site which is a joint project of Hachette Book Group, Penguin Group, and Simon & Schuster. The aim of this new site is to promote books and help improve the discovery of books. I highly recommend heading over to Bookish and checking it out! That’s not the only new book related site out there though. Novl from Little, Brown is a new community for young adult book lovers. The goal of Novl is to bring readers together and create fun new content to share. Head over to Novl and start exploring.
Stephenie Meyer is on tour for the Host movie. Sadly she won’t be coming anywhere near me but some of you might get the chance to meet her. Twilight Lexicon has all the details about the signings.
There’s a new young readers imprint out there: Alonquin Young Readers. Alonquin Young Readers has been in the works for quite some time but it’s finally here. So many pretty and dark covers! I’m so excited for Delirium to be made into a tv show and for the Maze Runner, because it was such a good book, although I haven’t read the second one yet. I’m also excited for Sever, because the cover is beautiful and want to know what will happen to Rhine!

This post rocked! There are so many YA books being optioned for TV shows and movies I can’t keep up with them all. I hadn’t even known about most of these yet!
