This December I am once again hosting some of my favorite bloggers here on Katie’s Book Blog. I asked them to pick a few of their favorite books from 2013 and their one most anticipated book of 2014.
Today I have Alexia from Adventures in Reading!
I am a 27 year old college student and I started this blog on a complete whim. I have always been a reader and it’s been wonderful to be able to blog about books and talk to others who are just as book crazy as I am. My blog isn’t set on one specific book genre as I have very eclectic tastes in books. That is clearly shown on my blog.
Best Debut Novel
OCD Love Story by Corey Ann Haydu
OCD Love Story by Corey Ann Haydu was in my opinion the best debut novel. It was written wonderfully and the characterization of OCD and it’s variables was quite accurate.
Best Start of Series
The Program by Suzanne Young
I adored this book more than I ever expected to. It was beautifully written and the characters were amazing.
Best Series Finale/Continuation
Unravel Me (Shatter Me #2) by Tahereh Mafi
So I haven’t read any series finales this year so I decided to pick the best 2nd book in a series. For that, I go with Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi. It was amazing and left me desperate for the final book in the trilogy.
Best Standalone
Gated by Amy Christine Parker
It was a YA standalone that centered around cults and I have always been fascinated by them. It was a great book filled with characters with very distinct personalities. It had the feels that helped it to be, in my opinion the best standalone.
Best Unexpected Favorite
My Life After Now by Jessica Verdi
It was one of my favorite YA contemporaries of the year. I bought this one after a friend recommended it to me. I had no clue how much I would love it.
Best All Around
The Program by Suzanne Young
I had heard some iffy things about it prior to purchasing it but I went ahead in purchased it anyway. It had romance, action and all the feels that a reader could ever want.
Most Anticipated 2014 Release!
Ignite Me (Shatter Me #3) by Tahereh Mafi
What do you guys think of Alexia’s picks? Have you read any of them?
Make sure to check back tomorrow for the next blogger’s picks!
OCD Love Story was wonderful in how it described thought OCD in a realistic way, and in a way that was respectful but also reflected the chaos the person feels.
The love story was cute and real, and I loved the hopeful ending 🙂
