This December I am once again hosting some of my favorite bloggers here on Katie’s Book Blog. I asked them to pick a few of their favorite books from 2013 and their one most anticipated book of 2014.
Best Debut Novel
Taken by Erin Bowman
I had been anticipating this book for AGES it seems. And when I finally read it, it surpassed my every expectation and more. Which was fantastic.
Best Series Finale
I am cheating with this one. I didn’t read any series finales that came out this year. So instead I’m going to tell you about one series finale I read that has come out previously and one series that was continued this year.
Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy #6) by Richelle Mead
I was a huge baby, and didn’t read this one for AGES. I was so afraid to see the story end and was afraid it wouldn’t be dealt justice. Of course, that was just me being silly since Last Sacrifice was easily the best book in the series. Simply fantastic.
The Eternity Cure (Blood of Eden #2) by Julie Kagawa
It’s Julie Kagawa. ‘Nuf said.
Best Standalone
Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality by Elizabeth Eulberg
This book is so delightful. First, it brings to light a lot of really great issues and it starts with talking about butt glue on page 1. What’s not to love?
Best Unexpected Favorite
Hooked by Liz Fichera
I was just not expecting how fantastic this one was. It dealt with so many issues in a really great way and the story was very powerful.
Best All Around
The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau
Hands down The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau – it was absolutely delightful and really a surprise. I am very picky about dystopian novels and Joelle Charonneau simply nails it with this one.
Most Anticipated 2014 Release!!
Dissonance by Erica O’Rourke
I always hate this question. Because I am always looking forward to SO MANY BOOKS. But I think my most anticipated 2014 release is Dissonance by Erica O’Rourke. I recently read her Torn trilogy and became OBSESSED, like REALLY obsessed, with Erica O’Rourke’s talent and NOW I NEED A ANOTHER TITLE.
What do you guys think of Erica’s picks? Have you read any of them?
Make sure to check back tomorrow for the next blogger’s picks!
The Testing was REALLY good, I enjoyed it a lot. I still want to read Taken as I’ve heard lots of different things about it.
Elizabeth Eulberg always writes novels that empower girls, even when they’re not warriors or kick-butt. Her characters make us feel strong in real life 🙂
