This December I am once again hosting some of my favorite bloggers here on Katie’s Book Blog. I asked them to pick a few of their favorite books from 2013 and their one most anticipated book of 2014.
Today I have Jana from The Book Goddess!
I’m Jana and I blog over at The Book Goddess. I’m a 17 year old girl obsessed with fashion, Disney, design, football, and of course books. You can always find me reading, dancing or watching over my adorable younger brother. I tend to stress a lot and am known for being too attached to fictional characters. My blog focuses on Young Adult primarily, but I also tend to review New Adult and Adult.
Best Debut Novel
Pivot Point by Kasie West
After reading this book, I became such a big Kasie West fan. This book was just so different and addictive! And come on, we all sometimes want to look into the future and know the outcomes, right?
Best Start of Series
The Beautiful and the Cursed (The Dispossessed #1) by Page Morgan
This is about gargoyles! How can I not love this? Aside from the rare paranormal creature, it’s set in beautiful Paris and there’s two hot boys. The world-building was also phenomenal and I really can’t wait for the rest!
Best Series Finale
Sentinel (Covenant #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I was so worried this wasn’t going to live up to my expectations and what not, but Sentinel really is the best series finale this year for me. It just had everything and it was such a very satisfying and a worthy ending to one of my favourite series.
Best Standalone
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
I could talk about this book for hours. This is probably my best read (along with CoM) and the one I want to hug and keep forever. Cath totally captures me, and a whole lot of other socially awkward young people out there. I’ve never read about such a realistic character!
Best Unexpected Favorite
Unravel Me (Shatter Me #2) by Tahereh Mafi
While I thought Shatter Me was awesome, I was so not prepared for the mindblowing sequel. Can someone please give me Ignite Me now? By the way, I was Team Adam in the first two books, but for the last book I would be happy with whoever she ends up with. 😛
Best All Around
Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass #2) by Sarah J. Maas
I normally dislike fantasy, but with this series I completely fell in love with it and the characters. Celaena is my favorite protagonist ever and OMG ALL THE FEELS IN THIS BOOK. Bring on book three!!
Most Anticipated 2014 Release!
White Hot Kiss (The Dark Elements #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I’m such a massive JLA fan, and I read the prequel novella (Bitter Sweet Love) which I LOVED and am now impatiently waiting for this. JLA sure knows how to write. I want more demons and gargoyles, please!
What do you guys think of Jana’s choices? Do you agree with any of them? Are there any you’ve been meaning to read?
Make sure to check back tomorrow for the next blogger’s picks!
There are a bunch of great reads listed above that I have been dying to read. I fell in love with Pivot Point so amazing. Great post =)
White Hot Kiss was so awesome! Such a wonderful paranormal concept, to have gargoyle protectors – and the short story that introduced us to the world, Bitter Sweet Love, was one of my favorite novellas ever 🙂
It’s so cool that Pivot Point is a favorite with so many readers 🙂 The author’s contemporary was equally good 🙂
