Bloggers’ Best of 2013: City of Books!

This December I am once again hosting some of my favorite bloggers here on Katie’s Book Blog.  I asked them to pick a few of their favorite books from 2013 and their one most anticipated book of 2014.
Today I have Richa from City of Books!

I’m Richa, a 17-year-old book blogger from Singapore. I’ve always loved reading, but blogging has really opened me up to different genres and new people whom I share interests with, which is amazing. I also love TV, rock music, playing the piano and guitar, watching football, and playing basketball.

Best Debut Novel

Altered by Jennifer Rush
These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner
I really couldn’t pick between these two. I loved Altered so much – the concept, the characters, the action – everything. As for These Broken Stars, a lot of it took me by surprise, and I loved that. Also, I’m a huge sci-fi fan so I adored the premise of the novel. And Tarver, of course

Best Start of Series

The Burning Sky by Sherry Thomas

I don’t read too much high fantasy, but this one is definitely my favourite of the genre. It’s intense, humourous, and full of action. It’s also beautifully written, and I’m desperately awaiting the next book.

Best Series Finale

Clockwork Princess (Infernal Devices #3) by Cassandra Clare
This book, guys. This book made me laugh, cry, smile and rage all in the span of a few hours. It’s a true masterpiece in my opinion, and I loved every second of reading it.

Best Standalone

Out of Play by Nyrae Dawn and Jolene Perry

How I wish this wasn’t a standalone! This is one book where I could really connect with the main character, so it made me love the book all the more. Both protagonists are incredibly well-written, and I think all contemporary lovers need to read this one!

Best Unexpected Favorite

The Boyfriend App by Katie Sise
This wasn’t unexpected in the sense that I didn’t think I would like it – the plot itself was unexpected after assuming something else from the synopsis, and I found myself loving the surprises. This book was sweet, humourous, and incredibly fun to read.

Best All Around

Clockwork Princess (Infernal Devices #3) by Cassandra Clare
Of course I had to pick this. Though the book came out near the beginning of the year, it’s definitely the one that’s impacted me the most (apart from Allegiant, but let’s not talk about that). I picked this not only because of the plot or style but because Cassandra Clare really knows her readers and her characters, and she creates a beautiful understanding between them.

Most Anticipated 2014 Release(s)!

Ignite Me (Shatter Me #3) by Tahereh Mafi
White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Again, I can’t pick! I NEED to know what happens in the Shatter Me conclusion. Plus, MORE WARNER!  ❤ And after reading Bitter Sweet Love, I’m obviously dying to dig into White Hot Kiss and meet Layla, Zayne and Roth. From what I’ve heard, the novel is absolutely fascinating.

What do you guys think of Richa’s picks?  Have you read any of them?

Make sure to check back tomorrow for the next blogger’s picks!
