This December I am once again hosting some of my favorite bloggers here on Katie’s Book Blog. I asked them to pick a few of their favorite books from 2013 and their one most anticipated book of 2014.
Today I have Nikki from Fiction Freak!
Best Debut Novel(s)
Splinted by A.G. Howard
Six Months Later by Natalie D. Richards
Some Quiet Place by Kelsey Sutton
*twitches* I have a lot of debut author friends and I want to shamelessly spout all their books, butttttt…I think I’ll have to go with…uh. I think I have to pick three–Splintered by AG Howard, Six Months Later by Natalie Richards, and Some Quiet Place by Kelsey Sutton.
Best Start of Series
Just. Yes.
Best Series Finale
Boundless (Unearthly #3) by Cynthia Hand
Crap. I know a ton of series ended this year but they all just flew out my brain. I suppose…Boundless by Cynthia Hand? BUT I AM DYING to read Retribution of Mara Dyer!
Best Standalone
This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales
OH! SO HARD. There are so many coming out, but I HAVE to say…This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales.
Best Unexpected Favorite
Maid of Secrets by Jennifer McGowan
Maid of Secrets by Jennifer McGowan. It sounded good and I’d been aching for a court story…I just didn’t know how in love I’d been with it!
Best All Around
The Iron Traitor (The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten #2) by Julie Kagawa
IRON TRAITOR. BECAUSE OMFG THAT SERIES WILL MURDER ME AND I CAN’T EVEN AND SOMEONE HOLD ME WILL SOMEONE HOLD ME BECAUSE THAT ENDING AND THE ASH CAMEO AND I CAN’T AND GOD ALL THE FEELS.
Most Anticipated 2014 Release(s)!
Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge
Dear Killer by Katherine Ewell
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
Bright Before Sunrise by Tiffany Schmidt
There are four that I just can’t decide between (Excluding the YA Valentines, because all their books sound amazing!) Yeah I know. I’m bad with decisions.
Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge. Because that cover AND BEAUTY AND THE BEAST RETELLING! HELL YEAH
Dear Killer by Katherine Ewell because MURDERERS. ASSASSINS. YESSSSSSSSSSS. The title alone!
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han because 1) Jenny Han. 2) Letters I’ve written to the guy they’re about? Well, shit’s going to go down. And I can’t wait to read it all.
Bright Before Sunrise by Tiffany Schmidt I CAN’T EVEN. IT SOUNDS SO GOOD AND SEND ME A SIGN WAS A FAVORITE OF MINE IN 2012. CAN’T. JUST.
What do you guys think of Nikki’s choices? Do you agree with any of them? Are there any you’ve been meaning to read?
Make sure to check back tomorrow for the next blogger’s picks!
Love this post! I have to say that I agree with your Most Anticipated for 2014 list, Cruel Beauty sounds amazing right? And so does the new Jenny Han!
Hi Nikki!
Great list! I agree with you that This Song Will Save Your Life was FANTASTIC! I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I really need to read The Iron Traitor and The Program soon!
Kelsey Sutton’s was completely unique, I never thought of emotions as people, but it worked so well!
Lovely choices 🙂
