This December I am once again hosting some of my favorite bloggers here on Katie’s Book Blog. I asked them to pick a few of their favorite books from 2013 and their one most anticipated book of 2014.
My name is Jess and I run Gone with the Words. I’ve been blogging for close to three years now and I can’t believe I’ve stuck with it that long! Before I started blogging, I definitely tried other hobbies that never really stuck: photography, crafting, and such. So I’m happy Twilight (yes, that’s right!) revived my love for reading. Since 2008 I’ve read close to 600 books! I seriously can’t believe that number, but it’s true. Goodreads says so!
Best Debut Novel
Stir Me Up by Sabrina Elkins
I was really surprised by how much I ended up loving this book! It had a ton of things I loved. (Review)
Best Start of Series
Just One Day by Gayle Forman
I don’t know that this is called a series…I think it’s more like a duology, but as it turns out, I didn’t actually start any new 2013 series! How crazy is that?! (Review)
Best Series Finale
Clockwork Princess (Infernal Devices #3) by Cassandra Clare
Champion (Legend #3) by Marie Lu
You CANNOT make me choose between these two, ok! They were both PERFECT!
Best Standalone
Where the Stars Still Shine by Trish Doller
I just love Trish’s writing. Her characters always feel SO real! (
Review)
Best Unexpected Favorite
Things I Can’t Forget by Miranda Kenneally
I’ve been a fan of Miranda’s series for a while, but this one was different than the others, and because of that I chose it as my best unexpected fave. (Review)
Best All Around
Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare
It just was, you guys! It was everything I wanted and more! MORE! haha
Most Anticipated 2014 Release(s)!
Ignite Me (Shatter Me #3) by Tahereh Mafi
This Side of Salvation by Jeri Smith-Ready
I know, I know! I keep cheating! But at least it was just a tie between two titles and not, like, ten or something. Haha There are a lot of good books coming out next year!
What do you guys think of Jess’ choices? Have you read any of them? Do you agree with her about any of them?
Make sure to check back tomorrow for the next blogger’s picks!
Things I Can’t Forget was YA that handled religion perfectly!
Stir Me Up was a standout because of how it portrayed the life of returning vets and the challenges they face (the romance was good too! ) 🙂
