This December I am once again hosting some of my favorite bloggers here on Katie’s Book Blog. I asked them to pick a few of their favorite books from 2013 and their one most anticipated book of 2014.
Today I have Lena from I Love Books Club!
I started this blog right before I got into college, for my love of reading. I love knowing other people who are as crazy as I am about books. It has been wonderful experience to be able to talk to publishers, authors, and other book fanatics.
Best Debut Novel
Relic by Renee Collins
A wonderful debut novel filled with magic, hot cowboys, and the desert- I enjoyed every minute of it!
Best Start of Series
Unbreathable by Hafsah Laziaf
Lyrical, and vividly descriptive- Hafsah has created a new world that I immediately got sucked into and I canβt wait to read the second book.
Best Series Finale/Continuation
Star Cursed (Cahill Witch Chronicles #2) by Jessica Spotswood
I know this is the second book in the series, but I have not read any finale in a book series yet- so I decided to do the βBest Second Book in the series.β
I need more of Cate and Finn- they are so cute together. Jessica keeps the momenta going in the second book, and now itβs a race to see what happens in the last book of trilogy.
Best Standalone
The Dead and Buried by Kim Harrington
I have read every single book by Kim Harrington and this one does not disappoint- I got the chills and goose bumps up my arms when I read The Dead and Buried. Another great mystery, Kim!
Best Unexpected Favorite
The Nightmare Affair by Mindee Arnett
I do love my mysteries, and with a side plot of paranormal-it was delicious book β I just gobbled up. The Nightmare Affair could give you pop into our own dreams if you are not careful (haha pun intended)
Best All Around
The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani
A beautiful book that shows the true meaning of βfriend.β This new fairytale -twisting book gives you all of the feels!!!
Most Anticipated 2014 Release!
The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski
I first heard of this book on Cuddlebuggery, and they raved about it. Plus lately I have been more interested in historical fiction, so I think this will be one of the hit books of 2014. The cover is amazing with the beautiful pink dress. I like the premise of a forbidden love in this book too. π
What do you guys think of Lena’s choices? Have you read any of them? Do you agree with her about any of them?
Make sure to check back tomorrow for the next blogger’s picks!
Aww!!! Thank you so much Katie for including me in the Blogger Best of 2013!
Relic was hugely original!
Loved the setting and world and the characters π
