This December I am once again hosting some of my favorite bloggers here on Katie’s Book Blog. I asked them to pick a few of their favorite books from 2013 and their one most anticipated book of 2014.
Today I have Krista from
Krista’s Dust Jacket!
Hi! I’m Krista from Krista’s Dust Jacket, my book review blog for the past two years. I’m a marketing professional for 9 hours per day and a wife and mother for 24 hours per day. I fill the holes with lots of books, photography and traveling. The genres you will most likely see my nose buried in include YA paranormal, new adult and urban fantasy.
Best Debut Novel
Reboot by Amy Tintera
I’m really not a zombie book kinda girl, but the twist that Amy Tintera took on the undead with Reboot absolutely fascinated me. Bravo to her for getting this zombie book hater to fall in love with them.
Best Start of Series
Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano
I was honestly starting to get a little burned out on the dystopian genre, when this gem appeared in my mailbox. What a fantastic new take on what is becoming an over-saturated genre.
Best Series Finale
Sentinel (Covenant #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Jennifer L. Armentrout and Aiden St. Delphi. Seriously. What’s NOT to love?
Best Standalone
Stir Me Up by Sabrina Elkins
“Sweet” is the best word to describe Stir Me Up. And not just for the romance aspect (which was done so well). This was a mature YA contemporary romance with foodie flair. Awesomesauce.
Best Unexpected Favorite
Dark Triumph (His Fair Assassin #2) by Robin LaFevers
Although I liked Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin #1), it wasn’t my favorite in 2012. I read Dark Triumph because I felt I should continue with the series. I’m SO SO SO glad I did. Sybella and Beast absolutely rocked my socks.
Best All Around
Clockwork Princess (Infernal Devices #3) by Cassandra Clare
I laughed. I bawled like a little baby. I got mad and wanted to throw things. Now THAT is what a good book is all about.
Most Anticipated 2014 Release!
Opposition (Lux #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Jennifer Armentrout knows how to do her cliffhangers well. Not only do I want to see how things resolve, but Opposition is the last in the Lux series, which means that I just know Daemon’s and Katy’s HEA is right around the corner.
What do you guys think of Krista’s choices? Do you agree with any of them?
Make sure to check back tomorrow for the next blogger’s picks!
I hope no one we love dies in the last Lux novel!
Awesome picks, especially Stir Me UP, because I too loved the food angle 🙂
