First Line Friday is a feature created by me, where I post five first lines from some books that I have on my TBR pile. You guys then get to vote, based on the first lines, for the book that I will read next!
I’ll post the first line and nothing else. This way you pick my next read based on the first line only. I’ll reveal what book you chose next Friday when I review it. Make sense?
Also, I’m sure some of you might recognize the books but please don’t mention what they are!
First line #1:
They came during lunch.
First line #2:
You have been chosen.
First line #3:
If you had been there that night, the night it happened, you might not have even noticed.
First line #4:
Everyone wants to hear a story about an underdog, don’t they?
First line #5:
We were not always freaks.

1. doesn’t grip me as much as I should, however 2. sounds as if the mysterious ‘they’ of the first book is speaking! I picked 2, that one gripped me for some reason. Also that line is similar to the beginning of a short story I wrote.
3 and 5 are intriguing though not as much as 2. 4 kinda turned me away because my answer to the rhetorical question is, “Nnnnooo…. I want to hear about a hero.”
#3 sounds very interesting…*runs off to google it*
I vote for #3!
I now want to read all of these!! I’m sure many of them are beloved books, but it’s hard to put a name to the first line out of context.
This is an awesome feature 🙂
