I love Laini Taylor. I’m just gonna start out saying that.
The Night of Cake & Puppets is the story of Zuzana and Mik’s first date. Zuzana has always been one of my favorite supporting characters and that’s even more true after reading from her point of view in this story. She’s quite a unique person. The same goes for Mik. I never really felt like I knew him when reading about him in the other books so it was great to finally read from his point of view. He’s so cute! He and Zuzana are so perfect for each other.
The story is fabulous. Mik and Zuzana are such unique people that you know they have to have a unique first date. And boy do they ever. Their story is full of puppets, magic, a little vengeance, and a lot of awws (at least on my part.) I also couldn’t help but laugh at their story.
Overall, I can’t do justice to how fabulous this novella is. I loved it and I highly recommend it, even if you don’t normally read novellas.

I’m almost through Days of Blood and Starlight, and Zuzana is probably my favorite character of the series. This sounds like such a great addition to this series, so I’ll have to get to it soon!
This novella is just so full of fluffiness and cuteness and snow and cupcakes it’s just AHHHHH they’re so lovely together! I truly envy Zuze for finding such a great guy like Mik. In Karou’s story, he seems just like an ‘okay’ addition and doesn’t really add much to the main story anyway, but through this novella we finally get to know what makes him so special. 🙂
I too love Laini Taylor, and I’m going to read this any day now. I want to re-read the first two books before Dreams of Gods & Monsters comes out, so I’ll get to it then 🙂 Glad you liked it!

I love Zuze. Definitely going to squeeze this in before the last book.
I know I’m so late on this series but a friend finally convinced me I absolutely must read them. So I just purchased them woohoo. I have to admit though I’m a fence sitter when it comes to the shorts between books….only when they cost money.
