Christina Channelle, YA and NA author, was kind enough to offer up an interview and bookmark giveaway as part of my birthday bash.  Check out the interview and enter the giveaway at the end!

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog for an interview!

First off, tell us a little about your books!

Christina ChannelleThanks for having me! The first book I’ve ever written is Dahlia, a YA fantasy book about vampires and fallen angels. It’s the first book in the Blood Crave Series that also includes Fallen Tears, Rowan, and just recently released Sage. I started the idea of Dahlia when I was fifteen, which was years ago, and decided to complete it when I started my journey of self-publishing.

The next series that I’m currently working on includes Those Four Letter Words and Jaded Little Lies. It’s a NA contemporary series involving tons of relationship issues and a lot of curse words. I’m having a blast working on it!

Reap is a YA paranormal novella with mature themes. It’s mysterious and starts off as contemporary but it’s paranormal for a reason. A girl wakes up in an apartment with three pairs of eyes staring down at her. She has no idea who they are and she can’t remember anything. Plus she’s mute. The main character, Mia, has to deal with her new surroundings with strangers while trying to figure out her past.

Dealing With It is my flash story. It has two stories that you can literally read in minutes, whether taking a bus ride or waiting for a doctor’s visit. The stories are about girls simply dealing with difficult situations that they have been presented with. The first story is about the different stages of grief, each chapter a stage in how the main character deals with it, hence the title.

You write a lot of paranormal books. What is your favorite paranormal creature and why?

I do, don’t I? In the past I would have said vampire. By past, I mean like the 10th grade. Now I’m probably into zombies. You can blame Walking Dead for that. I can’t wait until it starts up again!

What is your favorite part of being a writer?

Although I write for myself, I love letting people in on something that I created, especially when they enjoy my words. I guess it’s the act of creating that I love so much. Creating characters, creating worlds, creating family, creating conflict, creating love.

Yup. Simply creating.

Do you find it more difficult to start a series or to finish a series? Do you know when you start a book that it’s going to be a series?

I find it easier to start a series for sure. Sometimes because I just don’t want it to end. I don’t usually have the intent to write a series when I start a book. For example, Those Four Letter Words was strictly meant to be a novella. But the story and its characters have a mind of their own so I have to do what they tell me.

What’s your current project? Can you tell us anything about it?

My current project is the first full-length book in the Four Letters series. It’s titled Jaded Little Lies and follows Those Four Letter Words, my mature YA novella (which is currently free at the moment)! I’m really excited about this series because I adore every single one of these characters. I don’t want to say too much about Jaded Little Lies but it continues Jade’s story from the novella. Lots of things happen in Those Four Letter Words and let’s just say, that doesn’t end. If you like lots of drama and don’t shy away from swear words, the Four Letters series might be your cup of tea.

Since it’s around Halloween time I thought I’d include some fun Halloween themed questions!

Vampires or werewolves?

I’ll go with vampires because I’ve written about them and not werewolves. But I prefer a particular kind of vampire, not the Abercrombie & Fitch kind. I want a gory, bloodthirsty SOB.

Candy corn or caramel apples?

Can I say neither? Hmm, I don’t actually think I’ve ever had candy corn. Don’t laugh but I’m just a picky person when it comes to food and I haven’t had a lot of things before. In regards to caramel apples, I like caramel and I like apples but I can’t do them together. What can I say? I’m strange.

Scary movies or haunted houses?

Scary movies! I love scary movies. I’d take that over a comedy any day of the week. Haunted houses don’t really scare me and to be honest, neither do scary movies. But I usually find them amusing.

Trick or treating or handing out candy?

Handing out candy for sure. The last time I went trick or treating I was twelve. During that Halloween, a lady handing out candy refused to give any to me (or my friends) because I was “too old”. I didn’t realize twelve was too old. It’s not my fault I’m tall. Since then I quit trick or treating.

Spending the night in with a book or out causing mischief and mayhem?

Definitely spending the night in with a book. I’m an introvert—I’m not going to lie. So the idea of spending the night in by myself sounds heavenly. Plus I love reading so that’s a bonus. And with the amount of things that happen in books, it’s not like I’m missing out on anything 🙂
