Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly feature created by Jill at Breaking the Spine. It’s a chance to spread the word about new and exciting books that we can’t wait to read.
This week I’m waiting on…
We Hunt the Flame
by Hafsah Faizal
Hitting shelves May 14, 2019
The darkness speaks to those who listen. Those who listen are those who have accepted the darkness.
Zafira is the Hunter, disguising herself as a man when she braves the cursed forest of the Arz to feed her people. Nasir is the Prince of Death, assassinating those foolish enough to defy his autocratic father, the king. If Zafira was exposed as a girl, all of her achievements would be rejected; if Nasir displayed his compassion, his father would punish him in the most brutal of ways.
Both are legends in the kingdom of Arawiya—but neither wants to be.
War is brewing in Arawiya, and the Arz sweeps closer with each passing day, engulfing the land in shadow. When Zafira embarks on a quest to uncover a lost artifact that can restore magic to her suffering world and stop the Arz, Nasir is sent by the king on a similar mission: retrieve the artifact and kill the Hunter. But an ancient evil stirs as their journey unfolds—and the prize they seek may pose a threat greater than either can imagine.
Set in a richly detailed world inspired by ancient Arabia, WE HUNT THE FLAME is a gripping story of discovery, conquering fear, and taking identity into your own hands.
Why I’m waiting on We Hunt the Flame:
I mean, I’m sure that cover and summary is enough to explain why I’m waiting on this one but on top of that Hafsah is actually a fellow blogger. She and I started blogging around the same time and we’ve been blogging friends for years now. She is extremely talented and I will support her in any way I can. That being said, I’m here for We Hunt the Flame. May can’t get here soon enough.
This sounds so good! Zafira is giving me some Mulan vibes because she has to dress as a man to save her people and no one can know. Definitely adding this to my TBR for sure, now to just wait for it to come out.
This weekend I’m DYING To finish reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. It’s my first attempt at reading YA Contemporary, and I’m REALLY enjoying it! Great post by the way! I really love the cover of the book and the summary sounded intriguing!
I am horrible at knowing what books are coming out. This one looks like one I’d definitely be interested in and I am in love with that cover! I can see why you’re waiting on it 🙂
I can’t wait for this book to be releasesd either!!
