My thoughts:
Wicked Pursuit is everything I didn’t know I was looking for. Katee Robert took twisted fairytales to a whole new level with this one.
Wicked Pursuit may be a novella but it’s remarkably fleshed out. Part of that relies on the fact that this world is one that has already been established in Katee’s previous series. You don’t have to read that series to read this novella but there are a lot of references to characters from those books. With that being the case, Katee was able to focus less on the setting and more on the characters. Don’t get me wrong, you get a great feel for Carver City in this one but it’s not the focus of the story.
Ruby had her flaws but I loved her. She was sassy and bold and went after what she wanted. She sometimes acted without thinking though and that’s part of what led to her entanglement with Wolf. I won’t give anything away about him other than the fact that he’s got the alpha male thing perfected.
God, the two of them were hot. Every single scene with them was perfect. They had amazing chemistry and the spicy scenes were some of the best I’ve read. More than that though, they worked as a couple, helping to balance each other. I would not say no to more of this couple.
I can’t say there was a ton of plot or that it was an elaborate one but I honestly went into this expecting that. The plot was not the focus here. I do think it was decent, especially for a novella. It would easily set things up for a future series.
Overall, Wicked Pursuit is the perfect dark Disney stalker romance that I never knew I needed. I’m going to need to revisit Katee’s Wicked Villains series and check out more in this Black Rose Auction collection.
TL;DR
Twisted retellings meets stalker romance. Loved this one though it’s more a smut read than a plot read. While it is a spinoff of the Wicked Villains series, you can read it without having read those books.
