Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush #1) by Becca Fitzpatrick

Book: Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

Rating: 5 Stars
Release date: October 13, 2009 from Simon and Schuster
Summary: For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She’s never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch came along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora’s not sure who to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can’t decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen – and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

I am in love! With Hush, Hush! =]

When I started Hush, Hush I expected to be disappointed. I have read some really great reviews for it and some horrible reviews for it. I didn’t know who to side with so I just decided to read it for myself. And at first I was disappointed. It seemed a bit Twilight-ish. Nora meets Patch in biology when they sit next to each other and for some reason they are really drawn to each other. It was a bit too familiar. After that, though, everything changed and it became a very unique book full of fallen angels, battles, romance, and history. Quite the mix!

Patch was sexily arrogant. I know arrogance isn’t really a good thing for guys but he just managed to pull it off. He was really full of himself which did annoy me a little bit but I got over it. He just seemed so hot! I can’t believe I have fallen for another fictional character. I am ashamed of myself. =]

Then there was Nora. She seemed a bit like a nerd and kind of shy but I liked her. Of course I am also totally jealous that she gets Patch but I will get over it. She was just one of those characters that you can’t help but like. I couldn’t really find many things wrong with her except that she acted kind of dumb in scary situations. She made me think of horror movies where you scream at the girl to run the other way and she runs toward the masked murderer. It was actually kind of entertaining.

Overall, I really did love Hush, Hush and I am already super excited for the sequel. If you haven’t managed to snag an ARC in one of the many contests for them, go buy it! It’s totally worth it!

  1. Great Review. Hush, Hush was a little hard for me to review, because I am really turned off by guys like Patch-but I loved the story.

  2. Great Review, now I really want to read this book. I love your blog, I’m actually a little inspired and thinking about writing in English and making a book blog myself…

  3. Fantastic review, Katie! I need to read this one ASAP. I don’t know what has taken me so long to pick it up. The cover is fabulous and I have heard fantastic things on it. =)

  4. Ah, I gave Hush, Hush 5 stars too! I absolutely fell in love with Patch, but I especially fell in love with the angel lore in the book. I love any type of lore that can weave a story that pulls you in from the get-go. This was one of those types of stories for me. I just purchased the third book in the series and I can’t wait to continue it.

Great review and happy reading. (:
